Hello Lavender

Image
Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are celebrating Sale-a-bration with TAGS! We could choose anything from the Sale-a-bration catalog to make the tag with, so I went to my favorite set HELLO. Did you notice that I actually featured TWO Sale-a-bration sets on this tag??  Yep, I added in the gorgeous FLOWERING FIELDS set as well!  I am a HUGE fan of lavender, so that's the first thing that popped out when I saw this set.  And how nice is a big hello and lavender??  Very for me!! As I designed this tag, I encountered the dilemma of the "hello" being so ginormous.  How in the world do you fit a greeting like that on a 2" wide tag??  Well, you get inventive and add a ginormous Wisteria Wonder banner to hold that greeting!  And to make it stand out even more, I heat embossed it in white and added bling. Then, I needed a great way to use this beautiful tag.  I don't have any lavender right now to give away, so I thought a ca

Blooms in Neutral

Image
This next BIRTHDAY BLOOMS card is all about NEUTRALS.  I made several cards with lots of color then decided to give a more neutral look at try. I like the soft look that Sahara Sand gives the blossoms.  I basically made my own designer paper since I stamped them all over the place.  And boy was I tempted to add color!  But I held back and left the card soft and muted. For a bit of contrast, I added in a black embossed birthday greeting along with black matting and a couple of candy dots.  These elements added more interest so the card wasn't flat and boring. I actually think this layout is a great one for this stamp set, the blossoms look so pretty with the simple greeting to top it all off.  Maybe I need to try this card again but with colorful blooms...hmmmm....I think I need to get to that right away!  You may be seeing that card idea tomorrow, we'll see how it goes! Bermuda Bay Bloom

Image
Ok......I have to confess, I'm in love with BIRTHDAY BLOOMS !  This oh so gorgeous stamp set has occupied my entire weekend.  I have lots of cards to share with you over the next few weeks!  Let's start with this one that is done with one of my favorite colors, BERMUDA BAY . Isn't this wonderful!!  It's a very simple card design, but the black with Bermuda Bay gives it that somethin' somethin'. I used SHIMMERY WHITE cardstock again to stamp my flower on and color.  In this close up you can also see the shine of the sentiment which I heat embossed for more POP! Since I was working with Bermuda Bay, I snuck in a couple of sequins !  And as always a coordinating envelope.  I love the single blossom in the stamp set, perfect for the inside of the cards and the envelopes! I hope you are inspired now to do a little stamping and coloring!  The SHIMMERY WHITE cardstock is my new must have along with BIRTHDAY BLOSSOMS .  Just click on any of the highlighted products to

Party Animal

Image
Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are all featuring ANIMALS. I almost used the Playful Pals Bundle, but the fun new set BALLOON BUILDERS was calling my name! Isn't this balloon elephant too cute!!  I knew from the start that this little guy needed a string for his balloon.  Let's take a closer look. The thin silver thread was just perfect for the balloon string!  It took a couple tries to get the bow tied, but it was worth the effort! I kept the card pretty simple overall with a pretty design from the gorgeous BIRTHDAY BOUQUET paper in the background.  The elephant was stamped on Whisper White then I cut out the trunk before die cutting the rest with a circle framelit.  I had in mind that he was kind of floating in a balloon himself on the card! BUT, are you wondering why I named this post PARTY ANIMAL and then shared such a sweet and gentle little elephant??  Well, I named the post after my ten year old daughter Sofia who went

Shimmer Bloom

I have found a new love with an old product...... SHIMMERY WHITE PAPER !  The new BIRTHDAY BLOOMS + shimmer paper = MAGIC! You can't tell it's shimmery paper right now, but trust me the close up will show you.... See that bit of shimmer??  That's the shimmery paper that I stamped my bloom on.  I used Archival Black ink then colored with markers.  And even with all the color, the shimmer shines through!  The paper has a smoother texture that lets the markers glide over the top....I just LOVE it! But let's talk inspiration for a minute.  I got my layout idea from the sketch challenge at Try Stampin' -or not- on Tuesday. A nice simple layout that worked well with the BIRTHDAY BLOOM stamp set. Now let's talk about the rest of the card, it's all very simple! I used Crumb Cake for my card base and added a layer of Calypso Coral.  That one simple coral layer really works well with the flower and creates a nice frame.  Did you notice the very light Sahara Sand t

Flowering Fields

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are all about VELLUM. Vellum is a very versatile material to work with.  I use it for shakers, stamping and embellishment.  For today's card, I used it to stamp a field of flowers. I love the soft background the vellum gives to the flowers. The main reasons I wanted to stamp the flowers on vellum was the ability to color them beautifully with markers.  The surface lets the marker glide and add bright color without streaking.  Just make sure you let your initial outline stamping dry before adding color, then allow that to dry as well!  Trust me, your finger prints will be all over this if you don't!! Now let's get to the good stuff, the supply list! SUPPLIES: STAMPS: Flowering Field, Cottage Greetings INKS:   Archival Black MARKERS: Garden Green, Daffodil Delight PAPER:  Whisper White, Cucumber Crush, Botanical Gardens DSP, Vellum ACCESSORIES:   Octagon Punch (banner end), Cherry on Top Design

I've told you about my immediate love for the PLAYFUL PALS BUNDLE already, but this card really proves just how FUN these products are.  Get ready for some serious cuteness! Is this just too stinkin' cute for words or what????  I just can't help but smile with the little puppy pal! And where did I get my inspiration, none other than this week's sketch challenge from Create with Connie and Mary ! I saw the puppy on green grass when I looked at this sketch, didn't hesitate...just started working! One of the best things about this stamp set is that they thought of everything....including the cute little mouth for the animals.  No more drawing in a mouth with a marker hoping it will turn out right!  Before I get to the supply list, take a look at this fabulous PLAYFUL PALS BUNDLE to see all the goodness you will get at 15% off! Ok, now for the nitty gritty! SUPPLIES: STAMPS: Playful Pals, Sky is the Limit (clouds), Endless Thanks (sentiment) INKS:   Archival Black,

World on a String

I have a clean and simple yet whimsical card to share today with the fun new stamp set BALLOON BUILDERS . There's just something about this set that calls to the kid in me!  I love the watercolor style balloons and the fact that you can build ANYTHING you imagine with them! I went clean and simple with today's card just because I couldn't wait to get ink on this balloon!  And let's talk about this awesome greeting...super fun right?? And of course there needed to be a balloon inside the card.  It definitely needed to coordinate with the outside of the card and the envelope....plus I just wanted to stamp another balloon! If you hadn't really noticed BALLOON BUILDERS on page 14, go give it a second look!  Lots of fun to be had with this stamp set!! Coral Botanical Bloom

Image
The new BOTANICAL BLOOMS BUNDLE has a lot going on with it's gorgeous flowers and leaves but is it something to use for a clean and simple card??  The answer is YES! I took just one leaf and one flower to create a crisp and clean card for a friend. This particular flower from the BOTANICAL BUILDER framelits is my favorite by far!  I love the dimension you get with two layers of petals.  I gave them life by taking my stylus and paper piercing mat and rolling over the petals so they'd curl.  I wanted the flower to really stand out, so the Pear Pizzaz leaf was stamped on the card before adding the flower.  It compliments the Calypso Coral bloom beautifully! Along with the simple flower is a simple sentiment.  I isolated part of a stamp from BOTANICALS FOR YOU and added it to the card with BLACK ARCHIVAL INK.   Using black ink really makes the sentiment stand out from the flower.  I think it's the ink I used most lately, it's a real must have!
