Oh Happy Day!

Image
It's Monday and time for the Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.  Let's take a look at the fun sketch that Mary Jo has for us this week. I used Hello Love for my card with the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack as my inspiration. I love this new paper stack, the designs are so pretty!  I based my colors on the first design I picked, the pale yellow with flowers.  From there I picked out two coordinating designs for the banners. The focal point started out on a circle of Pistachio Pudding.  The bird from Hello Love was stamped with Memento Black ink on the circle plus a piece of Whisper White.  I colored the body of the white bird with Blendabilities then cut it out.  I glued it onto the bird stamped on Pistachio then moved on to the sentiment.  I wanted the bird to be tweeting something, so I used a Word Bubble Framelit to stamp the sentiment on.  I love how soft and pretty this card turned out, the floral paper and the blues are just wonderful! I hope you will join us for t

Happy Birthday Sunshine

Image
Ray of Sunshine is quickly becoming a favorite set of mine.  I used it for today's card for the Creative Challenge Club sketch.  First, let's check out the sketch for this week. And here is my Ray of Sunshine card. Isn't this set just a perfect fit for this week's sketch?!  I have always loved anything to do with the sun and moon, so this set really drew me in.  The sun's face is so warm and inviting! I started out with Sweet Taffy DSP for the background and built from there.  The next layer was Coastal Cabana with stars from Something to Say stamped on it.  Then I added in clouds. The first two were made with the Cupcake Builder Punch.  The last was self made.  I stamped the sentiment then cut around it for a custom shaped cloud. Finally, I built the sun out of several layers.  First, I stamped a circle of Daffodil Delight on Whisper White paper.  The face was stamped next using Hello Honey.  These two colors are absolutely PERFECT for the sun!  Next, I stamped ban

Summer Saturday Challenge

Well, week one of the Create with Connie and Mary Summer Collection 2014 has gone by in a flash!  I love all the fantastic projects, especially since they all feature new products!  To find out more about the collection, visit Create with Connie and Mary . Each Saturday during the collection we have a challenge card that we post for everyone to see.   Here's the sketch for this week.  Since I used Age Awareness for my project this week, I made today's card with it as well. I have to say,  I was not sure about the Photopymer stamps when they first came out.  BUT, now I just LOVE THEM!!  I am really happy that Stampin' Up! has put some in the new catalog since they are so easy to work with.  Age Awareness is such a great set that I have yet to take it off my desk! My inspiration for this card was the new Park Lane Designer Series Paper.  I used the polka dot design for my first layer.  Then added in a second layer of polka dots with the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder. A Birthday Treat

Image
I am super excited because my first tutorial for the Create with Connie and Mary Summer Collection 2014 is live today!  I made a unique birthday set exclusively for subscribers.  It's not too late to join in the fun if you haven't already.  Visit Create with Connie and Mary for more details! Now, on to the treat I am sharing with you today.  I made a cute little box with the new Fry Box die cut. Isn't this just too fun?!  I was inspired to make this box to try out the polka dot decorative mask.  I thought it would be a great embellishment for a fry box.  This came together easily and would be something you could do a bunch of for a party favor or gift. I die cut a piece of Bermuda Bay.  Then used a sponge dauber and polka dot decorative mask to put Bermuda Bay polka dots all over the box before assembling.  I added the cute little cupcake from Cupcake Party.  The sentiment is from that set as well. For the treat inside, I put three Ghirardelli Chocolate squares in a small

Bright Birthday Wishes

Image
I don't know about you, but for me this week has flown by!  There has been lots of excitement going on since it's the first week of the Create with Connie and Mary Summer Collection 2014.  I hope you have subscribed, the projects so far are amazing!  And speaking of Create with Connie and Mary , today we have a new sketch for the Thursday Challenge. Since my project for the first week of the Summer Collection 2014 features Age Awareness, I used that set for my card today. Now you can see why I titled today's post "Bright Birthday Wishes"!  I went with very bold and bright colors based off of the new Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper.  The scallops on the side of the Tempting Turquoise is actually one of the Sweet Taffy designs.  It was the inspiration for the whole card!  I used paper snips to cut along the scallop edge and adhered it to the back of the polka dot paper.   The Melon Mambo banner is stamped with the swirly stamp from Age Awareness to make it stand

A Pinwheel Celebration

Image
Have you seen the June Paper Pumpkin.....it's so fun!!  I have subscribed off and on and I am really happy that I signed up again in time to get the June kit.  Here's the first couple of projects I've made so far. It was so nice to sit down with this kit and complete two fun party gifts with ease.   Everything you need is in the kit and ready to go. I made a traditional pinwheel first.  I just love the festive 4th of July theme and just in time for the holiday!  I really like the quality of the the products, these striped straws are amazing!  After the pinwheel came together quickly, I wanted to make another!  So I picked another design of paper and made a second pinwheel. This pinwheel was added to a treat.  I love decorating CD envelopes to give away cookies and this pinwheel is the perfect embellishment.  To add a little color to the envelope, I stamped "celebrate" in Night of Navy then the stars and "party" in Real Red.  If you are not a subscriber y
