Shimmer Bloom

Image
I have found a new love with an old product...... SHIMMERY WHITE PAPER !  The new BIRTHDAY BLOOMS + shimmer paper = MAGIC! You can't tell it's shimmery paper right now, but trust me the close up will show you.... See that bit of shimmer??  That's the shimmery paper that I stamped my bloom on.  I used Archival Black ink then colored with markers.  And even with all the color, the shimmer shines through!  The paper has a smoother texture that lets the markers glide over the top....I just LOVE it! But let's talk inspiration for a minute.  I got my layout idea from the sketch challenge at Try Stampin' -or not- on Tuesday. A nice simple layout that worked well with the BIRTHDAY BLOOM stamp set. Now let's talk about the rest of the card, it's all very simple! I used Crumb Cake for my card base and added a layer of Calypso Coral.  That one simple coral layer really works well with the flower and creates a nice frame.  Did you notice the very light Sahara Sand t...

Cozy Christmas in Black and White

Image
I've gone with a bit of a different color scheme for today's Christmas card.....it's all in black and white. It all started with the WINTER WONDERLAND VELLUM STACK .  Some of the designs are black so I thought why not do an entire card with black and white.  COZY CHRISTMAS has a lovely little scene that works perfectly with the vellum that has the pine trees. I added a layer of the BLACK GLIMMER PAPER from Halloween, it fit well with the sketch challenge I used for inspiration. It's the sketch from Try Stampin' -or not- on Tuesday .   Now you can see how the black glimmer paper fit in so well! I added in a couple of the larger silver sequins from the Cottage Greetings card kit and a white embossed sentiment to finish off the card.  And as always the envelope is stamped to coordinate. I hope you'll join the challenge with me.  You have two weeks to add a card to the line up.  Just visit Try Stampin' -or not- on Tuesday for all the details plus more great ...

May Your Season Sparkle

Image
Christmas cards can be extra easy when you have gorgeous designer paper to give you a hand.  Today's Santa card has minimal stamping but lots of sparkle. Isn't this colorful and fun!  I just love the Home for Christmas designer paper.  Cutting out pieces of the designs to use in place of stamps adds a whole new dimension to card making. Santa and the tree along with a plethora of gifts were all fussy cut to embellish the top of the card.  But what really makes this card sparkle is the gorgeous red glimmer paper bow.  It makes the card look like one of Santa's gifts!  Let me show you where the inspiration came from.... There's a great sketch this week at Try Stampin' -or not- on Tuesday .  The bow is where I started building my card.  Red glimmer paper and Santa are a great match! This card was so much fun to create, I highly recommend cutting up your designer paper for beautiful cards!  To learn more about this week's challenge stop by Try Stampin' for all ...

Glimmer Leaves

Image
Last week I shared a card with a gold glimmer leaf that I just loved.  So, I had to do another card with the beautiful glimmer leaves. Isn't this gorgeous!  The design is simple so the leaves can take center stage.  I did one in gold glimmer paper and the second in the retired champagne glimmer paper.  Before I show you a close up of the leaves, I want to show you the sketch I used for today.  It's the challenge from Try Stampin' -or not- on Tuesday . I turned my card from landscape to portrait and I was a little liberal with the designs in the center.  I used the two leaves and a sentiment.  In fact, this card is all about the Big Shot, I didn't do any stamping! Each leaf is popped up with dimensionals on the woodgrain embossed cardstock (Sahara Sand).  The sentiment die cut from Seasonal Frames Thinlits is done in Early Espresso to stand out from all the glimmer. Lastly, I added in a couple of sequins to complete the design.  This card was quick and easy, but still h...

Soft Sky Woodlands

Image
I keep finding myself coming back to the gorgeous WOODLAND EMBOSSING FOLDER for my fall cards. This time I went with a soft color using the brayer technique I shared with you. Isn't this simple but gorgeous!  Soft Sky and Tip Top Taupe make a beautiful combination on this card.  Not your typical fall color combo, but I am loving it! I used the brayer to add Soft Sky ink to the embossing folder to make a lovely background for the trees.  I also added a little color to the cracks of the trees with a Sahara Sand marker.  I think that little extra step makes the trees look more realistic.  I did the same thing HERE with another brayered card. Since I wanted the beauty of the background to shine, the sentiment is a simple one.  "Grateful for you" from MERRY EVERYTHING was stamped with Early Espresso on Tip Top Taupe and die cut with a CIRCLE FRAMELIT .  I added a few dimensionals to the back with a bit of GOLD CORDING TRIM before centering it on the card.  And as always, a...

Sheltering Tree Birthday

Image
I pulled out an older set for today.  It's not really THAT old, but I have been so busy with the Holiday catalog stamps that I've neglected some favorites like SHELTERING TREE . Doesn't this fall tree look amazing with the INTO THE WOODS Designer Paper??  It's like there are extra fallen leaves bellow the tree! The inspiration came from this week's Try Stampin' -or not- on Tuesday sketch challenge.  There is so much you can do with this sketch! Cajun Craze, Tangelo Twist and Hello Honey make gorgeous leaves!  With SHELTERING TREE being a Photopolymer stamp set, it's easy to place them on the tree. I hope you'll join us this week and make a card for the challenge!  For all the details plus more great samples from the Design Team, go to Try Stampin' -or not- on Tuesday. Lighthearted Leaves for Fall

Image
I went a little outside the box with colors for today's card.  I think Lost Lagoon, So Saffron and Crumb Cake are beautiful together, why not use them for fall! See what I mean about the gorgeous combo!  These colors work well together on this simple card.  Let's talk about design.  I used this week's sketch from Try Stampin'-or not- on Tuesday. I love the abstract look of the leaves for this sketch, simple yet elegant. I added a light background behind the leaves with the WATERCOLOR WASH background stamp to give a bit of contrast.  The pictures don't do the card justice, the background is a nice subtle little touch. I have a couple of tips, but first let me explain why I put this together for you. Backgrounds can be difficult to stamp evenly so there are a few things that can help.  First off, I totally ordered the wrong stamp, I usually get the backgrounds on wood but I got a clear by accident.  I was in a pickle, but solved it by using another background stamp! T...
