Flashback Friday: Tricky Treats

Image
Yay!  It's Friday and time for another Flashback card!!  This week is another very fun Halloween set that I just had to have the moment I saw it.  It's called Tricky Treats from 2001.  This was actually one of the first stamp sets I bought as a new Demonstrator way back when! Does anyone remember this set??  The coolest part is that the characters on the stamps are made to hold a lollipop!!  Check it out! How fun is this cute witch?!  I used up some more of my retired DSP that was sitting around (or should I say that I was hoarding!) as the background.  The witch is stamped on Whisper White and colored with a blender pen and ink pads.  I cut it out by hand and added Basic Black matting.  To add the lollipop, I punched a hole on each side of the broom handle.   Now check out the cute ghost. This card doesn't use DSP for the background.  Instead I stamped a little ghost and BOO! from Bitty Boos, another set from 2001.  I colored and backed the image the same as the witch.  I

A Thankful Wreath for CCMC266

It's Thursday and time for a new challenge at Create with Connie and Mary.  This week we have a fall color challenge to work with. I have been into Halloween cards lately, but theses colors need a Thanksgiving card.  I haven't gotten any new Thanksgiving sets yet, so I went with punch art and simplicity.  This is most definitely a clean and simple card!  I wanted the wreath to take center stage, so I went with a simple Whisper White base card.  Here's the details: 1. Paper pierced the shape of the largest framelit from Apothecary Accents to frame the wreath. 2.  Made the wreath using the leaf from the Bird Builder Punch.  I punched out a bunch of each color of card stock so the building process would go faster.  I put just a dab of Multi Purpose Mono Adhesive glue on the back of each leaf and started layering on the card stock ring I made using Circle framelits.  This is the first wreath like this that I've done and the process wasn't as long as I expected it to be.

Toil & Trouble for TSSC276

Happy Monday!  It's time for a new sketch challenge from Mary Jo at Technostamper.  Here's the great sketch she has for us this week. As I've said before, I am very into Halloween right now (yes I know it's early!) so I used Toil & Trouble for today's card.  I did take liberty with the sketch, here it is. Instead of doing a square focal point, I used the Apothecary Accents Framelit.  I stamped the large image from Toil & Trouble on Whisper White and heat embossed in black.  Then I went back with sponge daubers and ink pads to add color.  The Old Olive behind the framelit is embossed with the Chevron EF and has Rich Razzleberry ribbon tied around it.  I attached my focal point with dimensionals, this way I could tuck a crow under the top right side just like the sketch. Flashback Friday: Hey, Ghoul Friend

Image
Welcome to another Flashback Friday!!  A big thank you to all of the blog hop participants and visitors from last week!!!  It's so fun to hear from all of you, there are lots of retired stamp lovers out there!  This week's flashback card is made with Hey, Ghoul Friend from the 2005 Holiday Mini Catalog.  This is such a fun and cute Halloween set!!  I haven't touched it in years and figured it was time to bring it out!  The figures all look like they are ready to jump or spin soooooo I made spinner cards! I have two to share, take at look at Franky first. Isn't he so cute!  I stamped him on Whisper White card stock and colored him in using a blender pen and ink pads.  I added black card stock behind him and fussy cut to give more stability.  I added my greeting in the slot that he spins on.  The DSP is one of my favorites from years ago as well.  I am sorry that I don't have the name of it for you, I am down to the end of it so I no longer have the label.  Here's

Toil & Trouble for CCMC265

As I said yesterday, fall is creeping closer and I am enjoying making Halloween cards!  I used Toil & Trouble for today's Thursday Challenge card at Create with Connie and Mary.  First, here is the sketch for the week. I took this week's sketch pretty liberally and turned this pretty spring looking sketch with a flower into this. I was inspired to do a Halloween card since it's Preview week for the Create with Connie and Mary Fall Collection 2013. Here's what I did: 1.  Picked  Pumpkin Pie as my card base and embossed it with the Houndstooth EF. 2.  Die cut a Whisper White circle then stamped the large Toil & Trouble stamp with Versa Mark and embossed it in black.  I added a hand cut circle of black card stock as a matting to make the words stamd out. 3.  Color was added over the words on the circle using sponge daubers and ink (emboss resist technique).  The colors are Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie. 4.  Added the strips of paper and the banner from the new Witche

Halloween Treats

Fall is quickly approaching so I have changed gears a bit and did a Halloween treat to share today.  I have shown a few gift card holders and a tutorial recently that gave me this idea.  As I was making them, I thought that a treat could easily take the place of a gift card.  And that's just what I did!  Take a look at my first Halloween treat of the season. Are you wondering where the Monster Munchies came from?  This is part of the new DSP called Witches Brew.  One of the designs is a bunch of words and phrases, so I cut out Monster Munchies as it was the perfect size and wording.  I made the gift card holder as I showed you in my recent tutorial.  But instead of a gift card, I added CANDY! The small packages of M&M's fit just right in the slot!  How cool is that?!  This would be such a cute treat to send to school with your kids or have as favors at a party.  The bottom part of the inside uses the bird from Toil & Trouble and "enjoy" comes from Oh, Goodie.

You're My Hero for TSSC276

It's Monday and time for a new Lunchtime Sketch Challenge!  This week we have another great sketch to work with from Mary Jo, take a look. I made a very bright and fun card for the sketch using You're My Hero. Isn't this a great card for a little boy!  I love the bright and bold colors that make the car stamped in black really stand out.  I used Daffodil Delight for my card base with three colors of Polka Dot Parade DSP added.  The car is stamped with Black StazOn ink on Whisper White card stock and colored with a blender pen and ink pads.  This was a really fun card and it came together so easily with this great sketch to follow! You can see cards made by other members of the design team by clicking on the links below.  I hope you will play along with the sketch challenge this week, just go to Technostamper to find out more and to link up your card! Blooming with Kindness gift Card Holder

Image
Hello!  I have another gift card holder to share.  This was actually the first one I made.  I used Blooming with Kindness and the same colors as before, Blushing Bride and Crumb Cake. I love the simplicity of this one.  Just stamped the flower with Crumb Cake on Whisper White and die cut it with the Circle Framelits.  A little bit of DSP and ribbon completes the front. The inside is just as simple.   I stamped the flower again, this time with Blushing Bride and added a birthday greeting in Soft Suede. Did you notice the envelope in the background of the first picture?  I actually altered a larger envelope by cutting it down.  It was an envelope that fit a larger card, not our typical A2 card.  I sealed the envelope then cut it in half with my paper trimmer.  You can follow the tutorial to see how I add DSP to make a new flap.   Just click HERE to see that post. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!  Be sure to go to my Promotions page to check out all the new products that Stampin'

Flashback Friday Blog Hop!!

Image
Happy Friday! This week is a special one, I am not doing just a Flashback, but a Flashback Blog Hop with my stamping friends!  The flashback cards have been very popular so this week a few of my friends and I are linking up.  I hope you will check out all the wonderful cards, there is a list of all the participants at the bottom of the post so you don't miss out!  Welcome to those of you who just came from Vinnie's blog, isn't she fabulous! This week's flashback is from a super cute set called Yappy Day from 2007.  I haven't use this set too much, but I just love it! I decided to go all out for this card, so I made it a pop up with lots of fun details.  I am super happy with how it turned out! The poodle is my favorite stamp in the set so I built my card around it.  I stamped all my images for this card on Glossy white and colored them with markers and a blender pen.  I pulled in many details both new and retired.  The DSP is Nursery Nest, I love it's colors.  T

A Cupcake for CCMC264

It's Thursday already and time for a new challenge at Create with Connie and Mary.  This week we have a color challenge that has a soft feminine feel. I absolutely LOVE this color combination, it's one I haven't tried yet but will definitely use again in the future. Isn't this a great girly birthday card!  I just love how soft and pretty this turned out.  I had Blooming with Kindness out on my desk still from some cards I just did, so I made use of it for a background.  Let me walk you through the details. 1.  Used Whisper White card stock for my card base, stamped it with Blushing Bride flowers. 2.  Die cut Blushing Bride card stock with Apothecary Framelits to serve as a mat for my focal point. 3.  Ran a piece of Pistachio Pudding card stock through the Big Shot with the oval frame embossing folder and then cut out the frame.  Stamped the bottom of the cupcake from Create a Cupcake with Smokey Slate on Whisper White.  Punched out the cupcake bottom with the Extra Larg
