Non-Traditional Colors

Image
Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are featuring Christmas cards using NON-TRADITIONAL COLORS. I went with a pastel look using the oh so fabulous SLEIGH RIDE EDGELITS. I love the crisp and clean look that the die cuts give this card.  And of course the best part is how easy this came together using the Big Shot. In all, there are four layers of paper that make this card so soft and pretty.  I actually started out with the Pink Pirouette base and then added in more colors as the card came together. Soft Sky was next, embossed with the Gently Falling EF.  I am SO very glad I got this one, it makes for a beautiful background. Lastly came the layers die cut the the Sleigh Ride Edgelits.  This is such a COOL set of dies!  The layers look amazing together and you can use them so many ways!  The first layer is the trees in Pear Pizazz then the house layer in Tip Top Taupe.  I did just a tiny bit of stamping to add the sentiment that came from Wond

More Paper Pumpkin Cards

I'm back today with a couple more ideas for the October My Paper Pumpkin kit .  As with the other cards, I have used bits and pieces of the kit combined with other products. This is one design with slight differences. This is the first one I did.  I kept the card base simple, just embossed large polka dots on Sahara Sand.  The floral paper from the kit really stands out against this soft color. The sentiment is retired (Good Greetings), but I used it since it worked perfectly for my idea.  I love the banners from the kit and thought these two greetings with a heart in between would be sweet for an anniversary card.  In fact, it's the card I'm giving my husband for our 14 year anniversary on Sunday. For the second card, I used different colors but the same design.  The Pool Party card base looks so pretty with the Sahara Sand.  I used the same sentiments but changed up the color of the banner.  I think both are beautiful, which is your favorite??  Curious about the supplies

A Blackberry Bliss Wonderland

I have fallen in love with WONDERLAND in the Holiday Catalog.  You can do so many GORGEOUS cards with this stamp set! See what I mean!  And even better is the fact that this card was pretty simple to make!  It actually has a couple of techniques that come together for the WOW factor. It all started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock if you can believe that!  I brayered on Blackberry Bliss ink with it being darker at the bottom and lighter at the top.  Once I was happy with how the ink looked, I stamped the trees with Black Archival ink. I added in some of the beautiful WINTER WONDERLAND DESIGNER VELLUM and a couple of banners.  The Silver Foil banner has "Silent Night" embossed in silver for a lovely effect.  Before I forget, let me show you where the inspiration for this card came from. I used the sketch challenge from Try Stampin' -or not- on Tuesday .  Now the vellum and banners will make more sense! Looking at the whole card again, you can see that I added more

Thinking of You

Have you dived into your October My Paper Pumpkin yet??  I have!  I've gotten creative with the kit and have come up with quite a few cards to share. Isn't this super pretty!  I absolutely LOVE the colors of this card!  I used several components of the kit and then added in several outside elements. It all started with the square piece in the kit that has leaves on it.  I took it to the Big Shot and die cut a circle from the center which I saved and used on another card.  I cut the 3 x 3 card base from the kit in half to use underneath.  Adding in the sentiment and flowers brought the whole thing to life! I added in one more element from the MPP kit, the polka dot matting under the floral element is one half of the mid sized card base.  I just added in embossing to give some dimension then put it all on a Pool Party card base. I was so inspired by the pretty colors that I stamped up the inside too!  I bet you want to know the colors I used......Watermelon Wonder, Pool Party and

Snowman in Red and White

Image
Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are starting to feature Christmas cards with today being all about RED AND WHITE. I went with a cute little snowman in a red and white striped scarf and hat. It's a clean and simple card that makes me smile just like the sweet snowman! I colored the hat and scarf with my Real Red marker and added a Pumpkin Pie nose.  For a bit of sparkle, I added Dazzling Details to the trim out the hat. In keeping with the red and white theme, the card base is Real Red and so is the base of the snow globe.  I stamped the outline of the globe in Sahara Sand so the snowman would be the main focus. The white layer is embossed with the fun Gently Falling EF to give dimension to the card.  I originally thought that I wouldn't buy this particular embossing folder, but I caved after seeing all the pretty cards that feature it! Autumn Wishes

Today's card has a lot of texture, but was quite easy to put together. With just one element stamped, the card is mostly constructed using the Big Shot.  Before we get the the nitty gritty of the card, let me show you the inspiration for it. The Thursday challenge from Create with Connie and Mary has some great fall colors this week.  When looking at them, the Among the Branches Bundle stood out to me. The Soft Suede base embossed with the Woodland EF is a perfect background for fall leaves.  I did one in gold and one in Mossy Meadow.  Over top I added in the sentiment and a bit of linen thread. As usual I added in a few sequins and stamped the envelope to compete the card. Stop back tomorrow for my first Christmas card of the season.  I have been a busy little bee making Christmas cards that I can't wait to share! CLICK HERE to SHOP anytime and earn FREE STAMPS! Anniversary Paper Pumpkin Card

Image
I have a fun card today that was quick and easy to make thanks to the October My Paper Pumpkin. Isn't this cute!  I changed this particular card design just a bit from the original.  I need an anniversary card, so I used a retired sentiment stamp in place of the one from the kit.  I also changed from linen thread behind the sentiment to gold. You can see the kit and the original designs in this quick video from Stampin' Up! [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IT797HWZuac[/embed] Aren't these cards so pretty!  I've only had a chance to make the one card, but I love how pretty this stamp set is and it's versatile too! In this close up, you can see the stamping I did in Smokey Slate.  The kit comes with Basic Gray, but I like the lighter gray on this card. I look forward to trying out more designs with this kit.  It's nice to be able to create without too much thinking, I just get to stamp! If you haven't given My Paper Pumpkin a try yet, I would say WHAT AR

Washi Tape Gifts

Image
Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are featuring FALL GIFTS. I went a little crazy and made a bunch of WASHI TAPE LEAVES which I used to embellish my gifts. I just LOVE all the color in these gifts!  A little washi tape can go a long way in adding color and fun to your projects. Just add strips of washi to a piece of cardstock in any design you like.  Then simply die cut a leaf or any other shape, easy peasy!!! This first leaf was the perfect embellishment for my half size MINI TREAT BAG.  I layered on a bit of gold cording then added the leaf with dimensionals.  I also added in a sentiment by die cutting "grateful" from the Seasonal Frames Thinlets set.  I used Blackberry Bliss cardstock, it stands out quite nicely from all of the colorful washi tape. I could have stopped with the treat bag, it's very cute on it's own.  But theses leaves are so easy to make, I just kept going!  I ended up with three more leaves, all diffe
