Sunburst Birthday

Image
Ready for another new sample??  You may be noticing a trend here with my cards this week....I am currently obsessed with the SUNBURST THINLIT and SWIRLY BIRD. I also can't get enough of the new In Color PEEKABOO PEACH.  It's so gorgeous paired with POOL PARTY so be prepared to see lots of these two colors! This card ended up being mostly die cuts and very little stamping by time I was done.  It all started with the SWIRLY SCRIBBLES THINLITS.  I added vellum and Pool Party waves behind the sunburst and a swirly on top of it.  I also added in a few silver clouds that were fussy cut from the SHINE ON DSP. For the sentiment, I used a retiring set, RAY OF SUNSHINE .  The sentiments are fantastic paired with the SUNBURST SAYINGS BUNDLE .  Like I've said before, I love how the different stamp sets work together and compliment each other.  You may also notice the sentiment is white embossed on black cardstock.  This look just pops against the softer pastel colors....I can't ge...

Tangelo Twist

Image
Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This month we are featuring the In Colors that will be retiring soon.  Today we are coming to the last In Color, TANGELO TWIST . I pulled out a retiring set and a newer accessory to make a really fun card featuring tons of TANGELO TWIST. Told ya there was lots of Tangelo Twist on this card!!  I went a little crazy with it!  It all started with the idea of using RAY OF SUNSHINE with the SUNBURST THINLIT . I wanted the rays to be Tangelo Twist, but I also wanted the card base to be that same color.  So, I needed a layer in between.  In comes the also retiring COLOR ME IRRESISTIBLE Designer Paper.  I chose a geometric design and sponged on color.  It turned out to be a great contrasting layer! I took it a step further and added a lot of color inside the card as well.  I was able to incorporate the die cut too! I die cut a sunburst to use as a template for sponging.  I kept the sponging light so the sentiment could reall...

More Color Smash!

Image
Yes, I am a bit infatuated with the COLOR SMASH technique and have yet another card to share.  I can't help myself, it's such an easy technique and packs a big punch! My inspiration for this particular card came from the sketch challenge at Create with Connie and Mary. I liked this sketch and thought a color smash background would be perfect for it. I pulled a sentiment from Ray of Sunshine, it compliments the rainbow beautifully!  I initially intended to use Over the Rainbow, but it was nice to change it up a little and use a set that's been put away for awhile. Did you know that I did a card set with Over the Rainbow for the NEW Mini Session from Create with Connie and Mary?? Yep, it's an exciting time right now, the NEW session is LIVE and ready to inspire you!  Best part, it's only $8.95 for 5 awesome tutorials!  For all the details visit Create with Connie and Mary, I Hope you'll join us! Mr. Sunshine for CCM312

Image
It's hard to believe yet another week has flown by!  It's Thursday already and I still feel like it's only Monday!  But since it really is Thursday, I have a card to share for this week's color challenge from Create with Connie and Mary .  First, here are the colors we have to work with. I love these colors together, so beautiful!  I wanted to use Ray of Sunshine since it's my set for this week's Summer Collection project.   I needed a little inspiration, so I went back and looked at past Create with Connie and Mary sketches.  Here's what I ended up making. The Moonlight DSP has all three colors, so I chose this layout to incorporate the paper.  I started out with a Blackberry Bliss card base embossed with the Large Polka Dot EF.  The Designer Series Paper strips went next.  Since Sahara Sand is a great neutral color, I used it for the sentiment which I stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink. The sun was so fun to make, the Moonlight DSP came...

A Sunny Summer Saturday Challenge!

Image
Yay for Saturday!  It's been a busy week and I am looking forward to a quieter weekend and STAMPING!  I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July and are having a nice weekend too! Today I have a sunny card to share for the Saturday Challenge from Create with Connie and Mary .  During the Summer Collection 2014 we will have a challenge each Saturday that we share with everyone.  This week we have a color challenge, take a look. I saw these colors and thought of Ray of Sunshine, one of my new favorite sets.  These colors are perfect for a sunshine card, here's what I came up with. Mr. Sunshine is gorgeous when done with Hello Honey and Baked Brown Sugar!  I simply stamped his face with Baked Brown Sugar on Hello Honey cardstock and die cut a circle with the circle framelits.  Next, I stamped the rays with Hello Honey on Hello Honey cardstock then cut them out with paper snips. The card itself is Baked Brown Sugar with a layer of Coastal Cabana.  I ...

Happy Birthday Sunshine

Image
Ray of Sunshine is quickly becoming a favorite set of mine.  I used it for today's card for the Creative Challenge Club sketch.  First, let's check out the sketch for this week. And here is my Ray of Sunshine card. Isn't this set just a perfect fit for this week's sketch?!  I have always loved anything to do with the sun and moon, so this set really drew me in.  The sun's face is so warm and inviting! I started out with Sweet Taffy DSP for the background and built from there.  The next layer was Coastal Cabana with stars from Something to Say stamped on it.  Then I added in clouds. The first two were made with the Cupcake Builder Punch.  The last was self made.  I stamped the sentiment then cut around it for a custom shaped cloud. Finally, I built the sun out of several layers.  First, I stamped a circle of Daffodil Delight on Whisper White paper.  The face was stamped next using Hello Honey.  These two colors are absolutely PERFECT...
