Flashback Friday: Cowboy Christmas

Image
Welcome to Flashback Friday!  This week we are flashing back to 2000 for the super cute Christmas set called Cowboy Christmas. I have to admit that I bought this set because I loved it, but this is the first time I have used it! I didn't want the card to be too busy, the cowboy should stand out.  But I wanted to use as many of the fun stamps as possible, so here's what I did. 1.  Used Real Red for my card base to have a Christmas color for the card. 2.  Added a layer of Crumb Cake.  Stamped the cows and the cactus with Crumb Cake for a tone on tone look. 3.  Stamped the cowboy onto Glossy card stock with StazOn Black.  Colored him in with a blender pen and stamp pads.  Die cut the image using the Deco Label Framelits. 4.  Die cut a Gumball Green layer using one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits.  I put it under the left side of the Deco Framelit to add a splash of green.  Trimmed of the right side of the white Deco label to line u...

Flashback Friday: Best Fiends and a Tutorial

Image
It's Friday!!  Time for a new flashback.  Today we go back to 2006 for the Halloween set Best Fiend. Instead of sharing a card today, I am sharing a fun little Halloween treat and a tutorial so you can make one too! These spooky treats are made using the Chalk Talk framelits, the largest tag is the outside of the box! I made this projects to use up a couple sheets of double embossed paper that I did last year.  I used the Spider Web Embossing Folder to emboss Kiwi Kiss card stock for a card.  A quarter sheet of paper is just right for die cutting 2 tags for the box.  I did a quick picture tutorial for you. This project is super easy and makes a fun gift! I didn't have to do any embellishment to the box itself, the double embossing was enough!  I just added a tag with a greeting.  I used another tag from the Chalk Talk Framelits.  I stamped the spider from Best Fiends and added a greeting from the set Twick or Tweet that I featured a few weeks ago....

Flashback Friday: On the Go

Image
Welcome back to Flashback Friday!  This week we are traveling back to 1999 for the set On the Go.  I got this set for masculine cards, lots of on the go activities!  Here is a picture of the set. I am trying to keep a balance of how many girly cards I make versus guy cards...it never balances!  So I went with a fun guy card since I already had Gorgeous Grunge out from yesterday's card.  Take a look. Fun guy card, huh!  What guy doesn't love to go out and get muddy on the ATV?!  I had a blast making this card, there a two great new stamp sets this year that work perfect with it!  The first of course is Gorgeous Grunge, and the second is Rev Up the Fun.  The greetings are PERFECT for this stamp! Here's the basics of what I did.  Went with Whisper White card base.  Added splotches and such from Gorgeous Grunge using Crumb Cake Ink, Soft Suede Ink, and Sahara Sand Ink.  Added the birthday greeting from Rev Up the Fun, stamped with ...

Flashback Friday: Fall Whimsy

Image
Welcome to another Flashback Friday!  This week I am featuring Fall Whimsy from 2003.  This is a well loved set that I haven't used in awhile.  But it's perfect for fall cards which is what I'm working on for the bookstore that I sell at.  Here's the stamp set. I wanted to add current products to the retired that I used.  So I made a flip card with the Circle Flip thinlet.  I absolutely LOVE making these flip cards!  I used to do them the hard way with the framelits.  This way is SOOOOO much easier! You can see more about the Thinlets on my SU Promotions page .  For this fall card I went with Chocolate Chip for my card base.  The DSP is a retired set called Autumn Vine.  The circle under the leaf is retired Creamy Caramel and the leaf itself is retired Dusty Durango. The inside of the circle has the greeting which is retired from not loo long ago. I am sorry I forgot to look at the name of the set.  If you'd like to know it, I ...

Flashback Friday: Longfellows

Image
Welcome to Flashback Friday!  This week we travel back to 2010 for a fun hostess set called Longfellows.  It's such a cute set!  Take a look. I picked this set for a reason, my stamping friend Lisa Rhine's birthday was yesterday.  I am just getting her card in the mail today, so that's why I chose the cute turtle.  Here's the card I made her last night. I went with the clean and simple look again.  I thought Gorgeous Grunge would be fun to use for the background.  I stamped the turtle on Whisper White and die cut it with the Deco Labels framelit.  I free hand paper pierced around the outside of the die cut.  A blender pen with Pear Pizzaz and Old Olive ink were used to color the turtle.  I think this is a really fun card and I hope Lisa likes it!  You should stop by her blog , she has been doing Flashback Friday as well and she is a fantastic artist! Thanks for visiting! Have a happy stamping day! If it doesn't move...stamp it!! Nic...

Flashback Friday: Halloween Treats

Image
Welcome to Flashback Friday!! This week we are traveling back to 2006-2007 for a couple of cute Halloween sets.  I used both to make fun treats to hand out to the kids.  Here's the stamps first. This first set is Booglie Eyes from 2006.  I loved this set and used it a lot when I first got it.  It was definitely time to pull it off the shelf and make something new with it! The second set I used is called Trick or Treat from 2007.  I loved this one too, especially the greeting. Now here are the treats I made, turning the gift card holder into a treat holder. Aren't these fun!  Let me give you more details about each.  First I will show you more about  Frankie.  I made theses gift card holders and shared directions HERE .  I had a light bulb go off one day and decided to use the same design as a Halloween Treat.  The small packages of candies that are out fit perfectly in the center.  For these treats I used the packaged candy cor...

Flashback Friday: Twick or Tweet

Image
Happy Friday!  Time for another flashback for Halloween!!  This week I am featuring a super cute set from 2009 called Twick or Tweet.  I just loved this set the moment I saw it!  Take a look. Isn't this just the cutest set?! I am loving the new Circle Flip Card Thinlet, so I decided to do a fun flip card. This card uses the thinlet, but in a different way.   I got the instructions from Sandi MacIver , she is so clever! Here's the inside so you can see how it differs from the original shape. I used a retired DSP as well for this card.  Let me walk you through the basic steps.  To see the tutorial from Sandi, click HERE . 1.  Cut a piece of Basic Black card stock 4 1/4" x 11".  Adhered a piece of DSP 2" x 4 1/8" to the left side. 2.  I scored the card stock at 7" so I knew where my folded over piece would be.  Then I added a piece of Whisper White card stock 3 3/4" x 4" to the center of the card by lining up the right side of th...

Flashback Friday: Tricky Treats

Image
Yay!  It's Friday and time for another Flashback card!!  This week is another very fun Halloween set that I just had to have the moment I saw it.  It's called Tricky Treats from 2001.  This was actually one of the first stamp sets I bought as a new Demonstrator way back when! Does anyone remember this set??  The coolest part is that the characters on the stamps are made to hold a lollipop!!  Check it out! How fun is this cute witch?!  I used up some more of my retired DSP that was sitting around (or should I say that I was hoarding!) as the background.  The witch is stamped on Whisper White and colored with a blender pen and ink pads.  I cut it out by hand and added Basic Black matting.  To add the lollipop, I punched a hole on each side of the broom handle.   Now check out the cute ghost. This card doesn't use DSP for the background.  Instead I stamped a little ghost and BOO! from Bitty Boos, another set from 2001.  I col...
