Watermelon Wonder!

Image
Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!   We are starting a new month and we have a new theme.  August is all about the new IN COLORS and today we are featuring WATERMELON WONDER. You should be arriving from Mary Brown’s fabulous blog, wasn’t her idea amazing!  If you are just starting out here, welcome and enjoy the ride!  Be sure to stop by all of the blogs to check out the creations we have for you today. I tried out a couple of ideas and decided to share this fun MINI TREAT BAG card. One of my favorite new In Color Products is the awesome ENVELOPE PAPER.  It's got a great feel to it and works beautifully with the MINI TREAT BAG THINLET. Of course I had to make this bag a bit different.  I made it into a card with a fun little vellum shaker on the front. The shaker is a simple pocket made with vellum and the very cute Cherry on Top Designer Washi Tape.  I kept the sentiment simple so the shaker could shine. Isn't this such a fun way to tell someon

More Color Smash!

Yes, I am a bit infatuated with the COLOR SMASH technique and have yet another card to share.  I can't help myself, it's such an easy technique and packs a big punch! My inspiration for this particular card came from the sketch challenge at Create with Connie and Mary. I liked this sketch and thought a color smash background would be perfect for it. I pulled a sentiment from Ray of Sunshine, it compliments the rainbow beautifully!  I initially intended to use Over the Rainbow, but it was nice to change it up a little and use a set that's been put away for awhile. Did you know that I did a card set with Over the Rainbow for the NEW Mini Session from Create with Connie and Mary?? Yep, it's an exciting time right now, the NEW session is LIVE and ready to inspire you!  Best part, it's only $8.95 for 5 awesome tutorials!  For all the details visit Create with Connie and Mary, I Hope you'll join us! Color Smash Masculine Card

Image
I sat down and played a little with two techniques from last week, COLOR SMASH and COLOR RESIST .  I went with a masculine look and a simple design. I must confess, the card I originally envisioned turned out terrible!  It happens all the time, a vision doesn't quite work in reality.  Well, that happened with this card!  I had planned on adding a butterfly over this background, but it was too busy and didn't look quite right.  So, I improvised and added a simple sentiment turning this into a fantastic masculine card! The background has leaves embossed from Butterfly Basics then color added with the COLOR SMASH technique.  I only used two colors for the color smash, Mint Macaron and Wild Wasabi.  I added in a bolder sentiment in Mossy Meadow so it would stand out from the background. Of course I had to add a leaf to the envelope, I love to coordinate!  I also added a nice sentiment inside with the hostess set Happy Birthday Everyone but forgot to take a pic...oops!  Anyway, I

Can't Resist Me!

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop !  Bet you are wondering what's in store after seeing the unique title for today's post.  Well, how about a little COLOR RESIST technique?! You should be arriving from Mary Brown’s fabulous blog, wasn’t her idea amazing!  If you are just starting out here, welcome and enjoy the ride!  Be sure to stop by all of the blogs to check out the cool cards we have for you today. Our mission this week was to use color resist in some way and since I don't have the new Color Me Irresistible DSP,  I went with heat embossed color resist. Since watercolor has been something I worked with this week, I combined it with the resist technique and I love the results! Having the heat embossed image allowed me to freely add color with my Aqua Painter and ink.  I went right over the edges and added color outside the lines for a soft and pretty look.  There are several layers of color, especially on the flower petals.  I layered Sof

Rainbow Color Smash Video Tutorial

I've got a video for you today!  This time it's a technique called COLOR SMASH that makes water coloring so much FUN!  I saw this idea on pinterest awhile back and thought it would be the perfect technique to showcase with OVER THE RAINBOW. As you can see, this technique allows you to layer colors onto your paper any way you like!  Below is the card I did when trying this for the first time, I used a bit less color and left more white space. I think I like this one that I made first better, which is your favorite?? [embed]https://youtu.be/RjsN1gu2swE[/embed] All you need are a few simple supplies.  Here's a list of what I used for both of these cards. Ink refills:  Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry, Wisteria Wonder (purple for original card shown second) Paper:  Pacific Point card base, Water color paper 4" x 5 1/2" Accessories:  Small piece of window sheet, empty stamp case, Stampin' Spritzer with water,

More Watercolor Wings!

Guess what??  I have yet another WATERCOLOR WINGS card for you today....I told you it's my favorite set right now!  It just so happened that a butterfly was perfect for the sketch I was working with for today.  See what you think..... Now, take a look at the sketch I used and you'll see why this was so perfect for it! When I first looked at this week's sketch from Try Stampin' -or not- on Tuesday , I saw leaves for the stripes.  And instead of adding a flower, I added a BUTTERFLY! I went simple doing just one layer and used one of the more unusual color choices that I came up with and shared a couple of weeks ago.  The first layer of color is Mint Macaron stamped off once, second layer of Tip Top Taupe and finally a third layer of Cucumber Crush. After the butterfly was in place, the card still needed a couple of things.  For a sentiment, I went with an Early Espresso "thanks" from the Greetings Thinlets.  I also wanted a little pop of color, so a couple of t

Today I'm going CLEAN AND SIMPLE with my favorite set WATERCOLOR WINGS. Isn't it cool how much this looks like a monarch!  But you'll never guess what colors I used, it's not what you think!  The stamped portion of the butterfly is built from just two colors, Crushed Curry and Watermelon Wonder!!  Isn't it crazy how those two colors produced this look!  But how in the world did those colors come to mind??  Well, look no further than this week's color challenge from Create with Connie and Mary! As I looked at this color combo, I wasn't sure where to start.  Then I saw Watercolor Wings (it's always sitting on my desk!) and thought a butterfly might be the way to go. Here's how the layering process went: first layer Crushed Curry stamped off once, second layer Crushed Curry full ink, then lastly Watermelon Wonder!  But the real magic happened when I added the die cut layer of Basic Black....I couldn't believe how it transformed! With such a gorgeou

I pondered my card for awhile, there were so many ways I could go with this theme!  Can you guess what I went with??? If you guessed SHAKER CARD then you know me well!!  I got the Cottage Greetings Card Kit last week from Connie and Mary when I helped at their LIVE event, wasn't that sweet of them!!  I had such a blast that day, I didn't want to go home!! Anyway, I knew I wanted to used this awesome kit for today's card and I wanted it to be my style.  What's more my style than a SHAKER CARD!! Most of my supplies for the card came from this kit.  That'
