Bold Butterfly

Image
Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we our theme is FLY AWAY, so we are featuring cards with birds and butterflies. I incorporated new and old in my card that features a beautiful BUTTERFLY. I found a fun new color combination using the new In Color DAPPER DENIM with WATERMELON WONDER.  As you can see I also added in a bit of bling by using Silver Glimmer paper for the swirls.  I can tell you right now that the new SWIRLY BIRD BUNDLE is a MUST HAVE!!! This swirly die cut is TOO.MUCH.FUN. The Dapper Denim background is sponged on with areas darker and lighter for a unique look.  The silver swirl and sequins are gorgeous with these bold colors. The sentiment in black and white pops against all the colors and gives a bold look.  I used words from the May My Paper Pumpkin kit.  This one had lots of useful sentiments that are perfect for cutting out like this. I also embellished the inside of the card.  I used a piece of the polka dot background alo

Fond Farewell

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are featuring stamps that are RETIRING. I actually had to sit and think for awhile before deciding on a stamp set to use.  Sometimes having so many options can be daunting!  In the end I chose a set that has a fantastic bold greeting, HELLO LIFE . I embossed the sentiment in white to pop against the Basic Black cardstock.  This boldness is quite a contrast from the soft watercolor background that I made. The soft background was simple to make.  A piece of watercolor paper and a bit of ink was all it took.  I used the new In Colors Dapper Denim and Flirty Flamingo with Rich Razzleberry.  The Aqua Painter made it super easy, it has become one of my best loved tools! I also added a bit of stamping inside the card.  I love the smaller sentiments just as much as the bold one!  I used each of the three colors from the watercolor on the front to tie it all together. Now, let’s get to the good stuff, the supply l

Botanical Builder

I normally stick to a collection of my favorite colors for card making.  For today's card, I used a color that I rarely touch...Night of Navy. Isn't Night of Navy pretty when paired with Blushing Bride!  I started out knowing I wanted something a bit different so I also included an embossing folder that I rarely use, BOHO CHIC .  I like the texture plus it gives the card a lot more interest!  But there's still more, this isn't a typical card....... It's an easel card!  I love how easy these cards are to make yet they have a terrific WOW factor.  A small flower stamped and a punched flower make a simple holder to make the front of the card stand. The flowers are all built from BOTANICAL BUILDERS and the ITTY BITTY ACCENTS PUNCH PACK .  I also threw in a couple of leaves from the ROSE GARDEN THINLITS .  Using a couple shades of green, Pear Pizzaz and Old Olive, gives more depth.  The sentiment is pulled from ROSE WONDER the set that coordinates with the ROSE GARD

Birthday Blooms: Color Me Happy

Image
Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are featuring stamps that require coloring. I’ve gone back to a favorite of mine from the Occasions Catalog, BIRTHDAY BLOOMS. You may have noticed that I added in a couple more favorites, COTTAGE GREETINGS and the COTTAGE GREETINGS CARD KIT.  I am happy to say that COTTAGE GREETINGS is carrying over to the new catalog, but the card kit is not.  It's time for new kits, so I need to use up what I have left of this one! I heat embossed the bloom in white on watercolor paper then used an aqua painter to color it in.  I love the combo of Peekaboo Peach and Mossy Meadow, I so hate to see that beautiful green retire!  I fussy cut the flower and added it to the card with dimensionals.  The card itself is all built from supplies in the card kit.  I think the wood paper looks gorgeous with the Peekaboo Peach and Mossy Meadow flower. Now, let’s get to the good stuff, the supply list! SUPPLIES: STAMPS:   Birthda

Sunburst Birthday

Image
Ready for another new sample??  You may be noticing a trend here with my cards this week....I am currently obsessed with the SUNBURST THINLIT and SWIRLY BIRD. I also can't get enough of the new In Color PEEKABOO PEACH.  It's so gorgeous paired with POOL PARTY so be prepared to see lots of these two colors! This card ended up being mostly die cuts and very little stamping by time I was done.  It all started with the SWIRLY SCRIBBLES THINLITS.  I added vellum and Pool Party waves behind the sunburst and a swirly on top of it.  I also added in a few silver clouds that were fussy cut from the SHINE ON DSP. For the sentiment, I used a retiring set, RAY OF SUNSHINE .  The sentiments are fantastic paired with the SUNBURST SAYINGS BUNDLE .  Like I've said before, I love how the different stamp sets work together and compliment each other.  You may also notice the sentiment is white embossed on black cardstock.  This look just pops against the softer pastel colors....I can't ge

Peekaboo Peach Sunburst

I have a super fun card to share today combining a couple of my current favorite products, SWIRLY BIRD and the SUNBURST THINLIT . This card just makes me HAPPY!  I love the cloud pattern from the SHINE ON DSP.   I just got this specialty designer paper and now I'm wishing I'd bought it much sooner!  It's so fun to use, the patterns are gorgeous!  This cloud paper is my favorite, I could use a whole pack of just it! I think that I've found a new favorite color combo when making this card.....POOL PARTY and the new PEEKABOO PEACH In color.  Aren't these just fantastic together??  The kraft cardstock works well with both colors too.  And the little touch of silver with the clouds and sequins makes this card perfect in my eyes! I used the SUNBURST THINLIT cut down to make a sun shape with one of the swirly stamps from SWIRLY BIRD in the center.  I went a little overboard with the small swirly stamp and created a background on the Pool Party card base.  I peppered some

Sunburst Sayings for Graduation

Image
May is here and so is GRADUATION.  I have some great ideas for you to say congratulations to friends and family in a very sparkly way! I told you these cards sparkled!  There's lots of bling going on here to celebrate the big day! The first card is the one I shared the other day that I made for my Dad's birthday.   I patterned the others after this one, just changed up the sentiments. On this one I used a retired set from last year, Hooray it's Your Day.  This particular sentiment really fit the bill for what I needed. The final card has another retired sentiment.  I used Perfect Pairings, it has a great bold "Congrats" in the set that says it all! All three cards have the same design, just different sayings.  This is an easy template for any type of event you need.  Just change up the greeting and add as much bling as you like! Speaking of bling, I've been working on my card set for the May Mini Session from Create with Connie and Mary. I am using NEW produc
