A Simple Shaker Card

Image
I used to make shaker cards ALL.THE.TIME.  It's been FOREVER since I've made one, so today was the day!  I was inspired by challenge GDP174 from the Global Design Project for this week. This image immediately brought a shaker to mind, Ionly had to figure out what stamp set to use.  Since I just made a card with Butterfly Gala Bundle , I had supplies out on my desk for that bundle so I went with it! I have been dying to give the new Rectangle Stitched Framelits a try, so that became the base of my design.  I chose to do a flat shaker to keep it easier.  The card is simply a Granny Apple Green card base with a layer of the same color card stock and a designer paper as the top layer.  I would have used designer paper by itself, but with a shaker you want a sturdier cover.  The paper comes from the gorgeous FREE Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-bration Catalog . I cut the center of the shaker frame with a stitched rectangle , then created a frame to go ...

Christmas Shaker Card

Image
Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week our theme is CHRISTMAS CARDS WITH MOVEMENT. Of course you know I had to go with a SHAKER CARD since it's my favorite style of movement card! This is a flat shaker and I only did the top portion of the card so the gingerbread man could be along the bottom. The card features two stamp set that work beautifully together, CANDY CANE CHRISTMAS and COOKIE CUTTER CHRISTMAS.  I also added in the coordinating CANDY CANE LANE WASHI TAPE AND DSP. What I love about this type of card is how easy it is!  Shaker cards with height require more time to assemble since you have to work with foam adhesive.  This flat style of card skips that step so you can move fast yet still have the wow factor of the shaker. If you'd like to make your own Candy Cane Lane Shaker card, check out the supply list below. UPPLIES: STAMPS:   Candy Cane Christmas, Cookie Cutter Christmas INKS:  Real Red, Soft Suede PAPER:  Whisper White, Cr...

Party with Cake Funfold

Image
I have a really FUN card for you today!  I am so loving PARTY WITH CAKE and wishing I'd ordered it sooner! Another bold card!  This stamp set is just so perfect for the bolder brighter look.  But wait until you see the inside! It's a Pop Out Swing Shaker card!!  I originally make this type of card last fall and it was very popular.  If you'd like to see the original, click HERE to see the card and video with instructions. The original Pop Out Swing Shaker that I did had the typical shaker front with window sheet and dimensionals.  For this one I went with the flat shaker using VELLUM CARDSTOCK .  The bits and pieces inside the shaker were the cut outs from the die cuts that coordinate with the stamps called PARTY POP UP THINLITS .  I also added a few sequins inside and out.  The die cut sentiment was also from the left overs from die cutting.  It's so fabulous to have a use for the intended die cut and the scraps...love it! I hope you enjoyed this card today, I sure h...

Shake it Up!

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are all about shaker cards....woo hoo, just my style! I was so excited to make another shaker this week, I didn't know where to start!!  I knew that spring colors were a must so that guided me to this...... Seriously springy, right??  I really love the bold greeting against all the soft colors, really makes it pop! It all started with the Sale-a-bration set BOTANICALS FOR YOU.  I love the small flowers with the ginormous greeting.  BUT, the greeting was way too big for what I needed, so I used a bit of painters tape to mask off the word "just" so that "for you" would fit just right! Inside the shaker I placed small punched flowers along with silver and white sequins.  I also added a few flowers to the front of the card to dress it up a bit.  I think I achieved what I was going for, I really see spring when I look at this happy card!  Check out the supply list, I've added all the...
