You're My Hero....Again!

Image
Okay, I have really been loving this cute little set!  I have yet another card to share today using You're My Hero.  I incorporated hexagons in this one and I also used a photopolymer stamp.  Here's the details: 1.  Decided I wanted a clean, modern looking card so I picked Whisper White for my base card. 2.  Stamped the car on Whisper White and colored it with markers and a blender pen.  Cut it out. 3.  Punched three hexagons from Real Red Polka Dot Parade DSP and added them to my card.  Adhered car with dimensional over the hexagons. 4.  Cut two banner pieces from Polka Dot Parade DSP.  The banner end is made using the hexagon punch.  I added them to my card after stamping weee-ooo on the Daffodil Delight piece. 5.  Stamped Happy Birthday with StazOn Black above the banners and stamped the arrow from Designer Typeset. That's it!  Quick, clean, and simple!  Thanks for stopping by, tomorrow I have a card to share with you for the Thursday Challenge at Create with Connie and

You're My Hero Cupcakes

Image
Today I have a fun 3D item to share with you.  My little boy Benjamin turned 4 yesterday, so I am sharing the cupcake picks I made for his party on Sunday. How fun are these cupcakes?!  First of all, the cupcakes are large ones so I couldn't put the cupcake stand all together.  I ended up just putting five on the bottom layer of the rack so the icing wouldn't get ruined.  So, these picks are on the bigger side so they would look good on a larger cupcake.  Here's a look at the three picks up close.   These picks were quick and easy to make.  I stamped the police car with StazOn Black ink on Glossy White card stock.  I used markers and a blender pen to color it in.  I added a layer of Polka Dot Parade DSP behind the white and a banner below to finish it off.  The banner wraps around the tooth pick and has Happy Birthday on one side and weee-ooo weee-ooo on the other. This was such a quick and fun project that added a personal touch to the party.  Definitely something you shou

It's Monday and time for a new Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge!  We have another fantastic sketch this week from Mary Jo at Technostamper, take a look. I saw the sketch and had an idea right away.  I used You're My Hero since it was out on my desk.   I just made cupcake picks for Benjamin's birthday party, I will share those with you this week.  Anyway, here is the card I made for this sketch. Here's all the details: 1.  Picked Whisper White as my card base and paper pierced a straight line down each side. 2.  Picked out DSP from Polka Dot Parade and cut to size.  The Daffodil Delight polka     dots is cut to 3 1/4" x 4 3/4".  The Marina Mist polka dot paper is cut to     2" x 3 3/4". 3.  Stamped the police car form You're My Hero with StazOn Black on Whisper     White and die cut it with Circle Framelit with 2 3/4" diameter,     5th one in from the outside. 4.  Colored the car in using a blender pen with my ink pads.  Added paper piercing

Another Bow!!

Image
Today I have another card similar to yesterday's......except a different bow! Take a look. As I said yesterday, I try to make cards in pairs and sometimes I switch things up a little.  This time I changed my greeting and my bow.  I used the oval punch bow for today's card using the Extra large Oval Punch.  The flower in the center is smaller and instead of being colored Wisteria Wonder re-inker, I used a flower I had hanging around that was Night of Navy.  All the rest of the card details are the same as yesterday.  I hope you liked the bow change up, they are so fun to make!  Thanks for checking out today's card.  Stop by again tomorrow for my Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge card using You're My Hero.  If it doesn't move...stamp it!! A Birthday Bow

Image
Today I have another paper bow to share.  This time it's on a birthday card that features the new DSP called Afternoon Picnic. The bow on this card is very similar to the ones I made for the paper clips, just much larger!  Here's the details on the card: 1.  I chose Crushed Curry as my card base and added a layer of Very Vanilla to build upon. 2.  Added a layer of Wisteria Wonder that has scallops punched along the top.  Next added a layer of the Afternoon Picnic DSP. 3.  Made a Wisteria Wonder Paper bow with a Simply Pressed clay flower that has a large pearl in the center. 4.  Lastly, I added the Happy Birthday greeting from Perfectly Penned in Wisteria Wonder. A very fast yet beautiful birthday card!  I have another version of this card to share with you tomorrow.  I try to always make two of my cards, this time I made a variation on the second one.  Hope to see you tomorrow!  If it doesn't move...stamp it!! Flashback Friday: Frogs and Flies

Image
Welcome to another Flashback Friday!!  I have a cute set for us to flash back to this week, it's called Frogs and Flies from 1998. Isn't this set fun!  I especially love the saying "Time's fun when you're having flies" ........   too stinkin' cute!  I haven't touched this set in a looonnnngggggg time so I figured it was time to pull it out. I love putting a modern twist to an older stamp set.  I went for a clean look, not country like the older cards were.  Here's the details: 1.  My card base is Bashful Blue with a layer of Chocolate Chip and DSP. 2.  Stamped the frog on Glossy White card stock with StazOn Black.  Colored it with blender pen and markers. 3.  Stamped the sentiment on Whisper White with StazOn Black and added a banner end with the hexagon punch.  4.  Adhered the frog to the card with SNAIL and added the greeting with dimensionals. That's it!  Super quick and fun!  Thanks for checking out my flashback card, I had a blast making i

Hexagons for Baby

Image
Today's card is all about hexagons and soft colors for baby.  Yesterday we got a peek at the most famous baby in the world and I was inspired to create a baby boy card.   I love the Six-Sided Sampler for it's versatility, so it is my go to stamp set.  Lots of patterns can be created, here is today's. Isn't this a sweet card??  I paired Soft Sky with Crumb Cake, perfect for a brand new baby boy.  Here's the details: 1.  Chose my colors, Soft Sky is the base card. 2.  Stamped on Whisper White all the hexagons I wanted.  I went with three different hexagons.  Each was stamped in a different color:  Soft Sky, Crumb Cake , and Smokey Slate.  I punched all my hexagons out and decided on a pattern. 3.  Once my pattern was figured out, I glued the hexagons to Whisper White and trimmed the sides that were hanging over.  The white cs was cut at 3 1/8" x 4 1/8".  The reason I went through all the trouble to stamp and punch instead of direct stamping is two fold.  Fir

Frame Art

Image
Today I have a fun project to share.  I actually made this picture frame art last month.  My awesome upline Patty Bennett gave our group a challenge to make frame art using one of the new sets of Designer Series Paper.  I made my frame art with Afternoon Picnic, take a look. I love all the colors in this particular DSP so it was easy to create a color collage of hexagons.  The only thing stamped here is the sentiment from Sweet Essentials.  I went through the different sheets of DSP and punched out the different designs with the Hexagon Punch.  The background is one of the sheets of DSP as well.  I arranged the hexagons how I liked them then added a few small flowers with pearls.  I added the sentiment to one of the hexagons.  I punched a 1/2" circle in the center of hexagon then tucked the one end of the banner into it.  This was a really fun project, a big thanks to Patty for inspiring it with her challenge!  I have another frame sitting on my desk so I can make another frame ar

Afternoon Picnic DSP for TSSC273

Image
It's Monday and time for a new Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge!  This week was yet another fun sketch from Mary Jo at Techostamper.  Take a look. When I saw this sketch, my first instinct was to make a card with Secret Garden.  BUT, I wanted to try to think outside of the box and do this sketch without flowers.  So I focused on the Afternoon Picnic DSP that I wanted to use for the card.  Here's what I came up with. No flowers!  I went in a totally different direction and made a baby card.  I know that Little Additions is retired, but I still love it.  The DSP was perfect for this, looks like a quilt in the background.  I used Coastal Cabana and Wisteria Wonder as my main colors, just love how great they look together. You can see cards made by the other members of the design team by clicking on the links below.  I hope you will play along with the sketch challenge this week, just go to Technostamper to find out more and to link up your card! Clean and Simple Card

Image
Today is the last Saturday Challenge at Create with Connie and Mary for the Summer 2013 Collection.  It is a color challenge this week, take a look. Fun and bright colors for this week!  I haven't put these colors together, so I had to think a little about what to do.  I decided to keep with the CAS cards (clean and simple) that I have been into lately.  Here's what I ended up with. I haven't done anything with butterflies lately, so that's the direction I went with this card.  Here are the details: 1.  Picked Whisper White as my card base. 2.  Cut a piece of Bermuda Bay to 2" x 3 3/4" and embossed with Mosaic Madness EF. 3.  Die cut Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight butterflies with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit. 4.  Paper pierced butterflies on the white card base. 5.  Adhered Bermuda bay piece to card.  Added butterfly and candy dot. 6.  Added a small butterfly inside to paper pierced butterfly in the upper right corner and add a candy dot. 7.  Stamped a sen

Flashback Friday: Travel Time

Image
Welcome to another Flashback Friday!!  Today we travel back to 2003 for the fun stamp set called Travel Time.  I thought this was an appropriate set for this week.  It is Stampin' Up!'s convention this week so a lot of demonstrators are traveling.  Here's what the set looks like. I made a CAS card (clean and simple) with this set.  I have been doing more of the clean look lately, it brings this set a more modern look. The card is very simple, Whisper White card stock and neutral inks.  Here's the details: 1.  Card base is Whisper White.  I stamped the map and suitcase in Crumb Cake .  Stamped the sentiments in Basic Gray. 2.  Stamped the card on Glossy White card stock (boy do I wish this paper was not retired) with StazOn Black ink.  Color was added with markers and blender pen.  I fussy cut the car and added it to the card with dimensionals. That's it!! A CAS card to modernize this set from 10 years ago.  Thanks for flashing back with me today.  Check back tomorro

Make a Wish

Image
I have a quick card share today using Mosaic Madness.  I wanted to make a bright and cheerful birthday card, here's what I came up with. I paired Strawberry Slush and Daffodil Delight.  Here's the details: 1.  Card base is Whisper White.  I rounded the bottom two corners and added large scallop paper piercing around three sides. 2.  Used Quatrefancy DSP in Strawberry Slush measuring 5" x 3" with the bottom two corners rounded. 3.  Stamped a pattern in Daffodil Delight with one of the stamps from Mosaic Madness on Whisper White.  Then die cut a circle with the circles framelits.  I used the fourth circle in from the largest, measures 3 3/16". 4.  Stamped sentiment from Sweet Essentials in Strawberry Slush and added Candy Dots. 5.  Final piece is a paper bow made with the Quatrefancy DSP added under the sentiment. That's the short and sweet of it!  I hope you like my bright and happy card!! If it doesn't move...stamp it!! Nicole Tugrul Independent Stampin&#

TUTORIAL: Oval Punch Bow

Image
I had a HUGE response about my paper bows that I posted Sunday.  Thank you for all the wonderful comments and interest.  So, here is a tutorial for you!  I made a large bow and put it on a large binder clip.  Here's a look.  I made a step by step picture tutorial.  I have not ventured into videos yet, I have three little ones in the house so it's not very quiet here! SUPPLIES: Extra Large Oval Punch Large Oval Punch Hexagon Punch 1/2" circle punch 3/4" circle punch Designer Series Paper, I used Afternoon Picnic Sticky Strip Large Binder Clip Large Pearl  TIP: I used sticky strip for a firmer hold.  The glue dots work, but I found that the bow components moved around.  I do not have that problem when using sticky strip.  It's not as convenient as the glue dots, but a much better hold. DO NOT FLATTEN your ovals as you bend them in half to adhere the ends.  You want a rounded bow, not a flat one.  For this step, I need to clarify that the sticky strip is added to the
