If  you look at my recent posts, you may notice that I am really into the new Flowering Desert stamp set.  Today's idea is a little different.  I went with water color using an aqua painter and ink pads. I love the water color effect.  It's soft and has beautiful color variations.  I achieved this look very easily with just a few steps. I stamped the cactus with Lemon Lime Twist on water color paper.  Using the aqua painter, I went over the original image to get the initial water color look.  Then with Granny Apple Green I added in more color gradually shading from the left to right.  In areas that I wanted a darker bit of color, I waited until the area was dry then layered on more. Once I had the color the way I wanted it, I used my Light Shaded Spruce Stampin' Blend marker and added detail. I added in a pop of color with Lovely Lipstick flowers on the cactus and a smaller plant in Shaded Spruce .  Last detail of the watercolor is a bit of sand using Soft Suede .  I...

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week our theme is NON TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS COLORS. I went with my favorite bokeh technique to create a beautiful sparkly card with SANTA'S SLEIGH. The softness of the Flirty Flamingo and Whisper White craft ink create a lovely background for the sparkly silver glimmer reindeer. I added a punch of color with a Tempting Turquoise wreath and the sentiment embossed in black.  The sentiment was actually taken from CHRISTMAS PINES.  I liked the font and the size of the sentiment complimented the reindeer. Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we have a really fun theme, SWING ON A STAR. All of our projects will have something to do with stars.  I actually have 2 cards to share today featuring the SHOOTING STAR BUNDLE !  I has so much fun with this technique that I had to make more than one! Now you can see why one wasn't enough!  I has way too much fun with this technique that I learned from Wendy Cranford.  I had to change up the last bit of the process a little to use only Stampin' Up! and it worked beautifully! This first card features the slider die cut where the star can shoot across the sky.  The galaxy watercolor technique makes the background so realistic!  I used watercolor paper (can you believe this was a pure white piece of paper!) and added LOTS of color!  The star was also done on watercolor paper so the colors would blend and look as beautiful as the galaxy background. I have a fun new take on the new stamp set MARQUEE MESSAGES .....I went METALLIC! I have been playing with the awesome FABULOUS FOIL DESIGNER ACETATE and was inspired to put together a card full of SILVER. I went with Basic Gray and Smokey Slate as my coordinating colors.  When put together with silver, you get a fantastic metallic look.  The entire marquee is completely embossed in silver.  I did one on Smokey Slate and one of Basic Gray so I could cut out the arrow to pop up on dimensionals.  I added embossed sentiments as well to make sure they stood out.  To make the outlined sentiment bolder, I colored the letters in with markers. Did you notice the fun polka dots??  That's the FABULOUS FOIL DESIGNER ACETATE I talked about earlier.  I love all the fun patterns and you can use the front in gold or the back in silver! Clean and simple cards are a favorite of mine...love the open space and crispness!  Today's card is all that using the new set JAR OF LOVE . Isn't this great!  Boldness from the Emerald Envy and Basic Black pop against the softness of the Crumb Cake and White. Best part, this was EASY to make!  I heat embossed the jar and sentiment in white....that's it! The thing I spent the longest on was picking a sentiment!  I like all the sentiments from this set, but I ended up using one from FLOWER PATCH .   I love the bold lettering and the statement that it makes, really works for this card! The inside is simple as well with a coordinating sentiment from FLOWER PATCH and the leaves stamped in Emerald Envy.  The same leaves are on the envelope as well, you know I love to match! I have a really FUN card for you today!  I am so loving PARTY WITH CAKE and wishing I'd ordered it sooner! Another bold card!  This stamp set is just so perfect for the bolder brighter look.  But wait until you see the inside! It's a Pop Out Swing Shaker card!!  I originally make this type of card last fall and it was very popular.  If you'd like to see the original, click HERE to see the card and video with instructions. The original Pop Out Swing Shaker that I did had the typical shaker front with window sheet and dimensionals.  For this one I went with the flat shaker using VELLUM CARDSTOCK .  The bits and pieces inside the shaker were the cut outs from the die cuts that coordinate with the stamps called PARTY POP UP THINLITS .  I also added a few sequins inside and out.  The die cut sentiment was also from the left overs from die cutting.  It's so fabulous to have a use for the intended die cut and the scraps...love it!
