A Bright Life in the Forest

Image
We've got a fabulous new sketch from Create with Connie and Mary for the Thursday Challenge this week.  It's a great design, you can really get creative or go simple. My card is inspired by this sketch as well as an outside source......my son's pj's!  I have a cute picture of him in dinosaur pj's that have the cutest color palette. This is such a great color combination, very bright and happy.  I have been planning to do a card with these colors and this week's Create with Connie and Mary sketch was just the right inspiration. Isn't this fun?!  I didn't use green in this card, just Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie and Smokey Slate. The card starts out with a Tempting Turquoise card base and a layer of Smokey Slate.  To go along with the sentiment, I stamped hearts from Hearts a Flutter all over the card stock with Smokey Slate Ink. Next came the two layers I needed to match the sketch.   A strip of Tempting Turquoise embossed with the Arrows EF was a p...

Rev Up the Fun for TSSC268

Image
Monday's here, time for a new Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge at Technostamper.  Here's a look at the great sketch we have for this week. I have been working with Rev Up the Fun from the new catalog so I used it for this card. I have really gotten into using the new Smokey Slate lately, so I used it for today's card.  The card base is Smokey Slate , no embossing either!  It's funny, I feel the need to emboss just about every card base and I have now made three cards for this week that have none!  I stamped the motorcycle in the Smokey slate and the greeting in Pacific Point.  I think these two colors and Basic Gray look wonderful together.  I used the Heart a Flutter bundle to make the striped banners.  The finishing touch for the layout is the Basic Black Chevron Ribbon.  I just love this color combination!  You can be sure I'll be using these colors more! You can see the cards made by the other members of the design team by clicking on th...

Hearts a Flutter for CCMC255

Image
Today I have a fun card to share with you.  I made it using the Hearts a Flutter set that has been collecting dust since I got my preview items.  I felt it was time to switch it up a little and give the Mosaic Madness set a break!  Anyway, this week we have a sketch challenge for Create with Connie and Mary.     And here is a look at the card I made using this sketch. I wanted to use some of the new In Colors and I wanted them to stand out.  So, I used Crumb Cake as my card base without any embossing (hard to believe!).   I added in a piece of Coastal Cabana that was embossed with the Modern Mosaic EF.  The banner is Whisper White that was stamped with hearts using Coastal Cabana and Strawberry Slush.  I added in a Strawberry Slush heart that was die cut with the matching framelit.  For the greeting I used A Round Array in Coastal Cabana, it was punched out with the matching 7/8" Scallop punch.  This is a clean and simple ...

See it Again Saturday

Image
It's time for another card re-make on See it Again Saturday.  Today's card is  re-make of my Create with Connie and Mary Challenge card from this week.  Here's that card, more about it here . Here is the card I did for my Saturday re-make. I changed up the design a little on this card.  I did a Pool Party card base with a layer of Crumb Cake embossed with the Polka Dot EF.  I did not add in a large background banner this time.  Instead I had the focus all on the doily and banners.  I used Crumb Cake, Pool Party and Basic Grey inks for the banners and greeting.  In place of the embossed piece that I had across the top of the banners I used a piece of SAB Pool Party ribbon.  I added a button in place of the three flowers from the previous card.  I love these colors together.  I would not have used Basic Grey if it wasn't for this week's CCMC color challenge.  Now I am really liking this grey!   Thanks for stopping by, s...

Thursday CCMC250 Color Challenge

Image
It's Thursday already and time for a new challenge from Create with Connie and Mary.  This week we have a great color challenge to work with. This color combo is one I haven't used before.  I don't use Basic Grey often, so this was a fun challenge for me.  I ended up with this card. I wasn't sure where to start at first, but once I got started the card just flowed.  I decided on a banner card so Hearts A Flutter was my first thought.  I stamped off once before stamping each of the banners then die cut them with the matching framelit.   Lots of texture with embossing folders on the base CS and large Cameo Coral banner.  Then it was just a layering process.  I added the doily folded in half to the large banner first.  Then the die cut banners were added in.  The top of that set of banners looked like something was missing so I added a piece of Pool Party CS that was embossed with the scalloped embossing folder from Needlepoint Border ...

Mother's Day In Primrose Petals

Image
Today I have a Mother's Day card to share.  I rarely use Primrose Petals, so I thought I'd use it for this card to change things up. The card base was embossed with the Lacy Brocade EF.  I found some large doilies in my craft room around Valentine's Day so I used one here.  I attached it to the card then cut off the part hanging over.  The large scallop heart from the Hearts a Flutter bundle was stamped in Primrose then die cut with the matching framelit.  My greeting was too long to stamp inside the heart, so I stamped it then punched it with the word window.  To make the greeting stand out I die cut a banner from the Bitty Banners Framelits in Primrose to go behind it, then popped up the greeting with dimensionals so it would stand out a bit more.  To add color to the doily, I punched out flowers to attach and added pearls in the center.  I also added in retired organza ribbon in Pretty In Pink to add to the soft look of the card.  A couple...

Yet Another Hearts a Flutter Valentine!

Image
Ok, this will be the last Hearts a Flutter Valentine...for a few days anyway!  I will be working on Oh, Whale cards next so be prepared for a bunch! I wanted a soft, romantic feel for this card so I went with a color pallet of Crumb Cake, Pool Party, and Rose Red.  The base card is Rose red, as well as the heart die cut and seam binding.  I stamped the large scalloped heart from Hearts a Flutter before die cutting it, hard to tell in this picture.  The Pool party heart was die cut as well.  The Be Mine greeting is from the Mixed Medley hostess set that just retired with the Holiday Catalog.  That was the only item I used that is not current.  The DSP is Sycamore Street from the upcoming Sale-a-bration catalog and the Crumb cake layer is embossed with the new Honeycomb EF.  I like the softness that the rose red gives to the Valentine, it's a color I haven't used in awhile.  Here is a close up of the heart, shows the stamped image a little bette...

Hearts a Flutter plus Dove Chocolate!

Image
I am a big fan of Dove dark chocolates (who isn't!) and decided I wanted to combine a card and chocolate to give as Valentines.  This is what I came up with. I used the Hearts a Flutter Bundle, which I just LOVE and added a little bling with the chocolate.  The paper layers are embossed with the Honeycomb EF, which I also love!  I wanted the chocolate to stand out a bit so I layered it on Silver Glimmer paper to make it pop.  The greeting is from the retired set Blowing Kisses from a couple years ago, it was just a perfect fit with the card.  It also fit perfectly in the smallest banner die cut from Bitty Banners Framelits, I didn't want the greeting to over take the chocolate heart.  I think I will try this concept again with different colors and a bit of a different design. So...check back for more!! Thanks for visiting!!! If it doesn't move...stamp it! Nicole Tugrul Your Stampin' Up! Demonstrator
