Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop: Punch Art

Image
Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Bog Hop!! All during May we are featuring different techniques and this week's is PUNCH ART! You should be arriving from Mary Brown's amazing blog Stamper Camper's Corner , wasn't her card wonderful??!!  If you are just starting out here, welcome and enjoy the ride!  Be sure to stop at all the blogs to check out the cool cards we have for you today. I love punch art but don't find myself using it much in my cards.  So when I sat down to work on today's card I had to ponder it a bit!  I hope you will enjoy what I came up with featuring my favorite Berry Basket die and a heart punch! Strawberries are a favorite of mine and I was so hungry by time I finished this card!  Aren't the heart strawberries sweet?!  I think adding embossing with the Decorative Dots folder really made them convincing! With the strawberries being so bold, I felt like a bold greeting was necessary to balance things out.  So,...

A Fall Card for Try Stampin on Tuesday

Image
I have a Fall card to share today for the new sketch from Try Stampin on Tuesday.  The air is getting crisp here and pumpkins are on my kid's agenda, so I made a punch art card.  First, here is a look at the sketch.  Looking at the sketch, I thought a punch art pumpkin would be perfect where the circle is.  Here's what I did. I have been using the retired Autumn Vine DSP that I have on my fall cards.  I chose a darker pattern to contrast with the pumpkin.  The banner is More Mustard, the card base and pumpkin are the retired color Dusty Durango.  I gave the pumpkin texture with the Houndstooth EF and added a stem punched with the retired Wrought Iron Punch.  I love the simplicity of the card, very easy to make many of them if need be. I hope you will try the sketch out for yourself!  Check out Try Stampin On Tuesday for more inspiration from the design team. If it doesn't move...stamp it!! Nicole Tugrul Independent Stampin' Up! A Double Flashback Friday

Image
Today's card for Flashback Friday was made with not one but TWO flashback stamp sets.  First set is Nature Sketchbook, a Level 3 hostess set from the 2003-2004 Idea book and Catalog.  Second set is Basket of Kindness, a Level 3 hostess set from the 2002-2003 Idea Book and Catalog. Here is the fun pop up card I created using these two sets and some punches.  First the outside of the card.  And then the inside of the pop up card. Let's talk about the outside first.  I used Nature Sketchbook for the focal point on the card front.  The strawberries were stamped with StazOn Black ink on Glossy White CS.  I cut them out with a Lables Framelit.  Let's look at it closer. First, the base CS is Crumb Cake embossed with the Honeycomb EF to look a bit like a basket.  I used a doily (yes, again!) in the center of the card to build my focal point on.  To make the strawberries stand out a bit better, I adhered the label die cut to Real Red CS and cut ...

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Image
Top of the mornin' to ya!  I am sorry I missed posting yesterday, I have something fun today to share though!  I have been addicted to making clothes pin clips and have all sorts floating around my craft room.  This is a fun one I did for St. Patty's Day. Is he just too cute!!  An fun little punch art Leprechaun!  Here's another angle. I love to package up the clips with a piece of CS that I can stamp a little greeting on, then put it in a cello bag tied with ribbon.  Great little gift item!  I have something for just about every holiday and a ton of flowers.  I keep these little guys on my fridge then use them to close up chip bags or hang notes.  Hope you liked my little friend!  Have a great St. Patty's Day! See you tomorrow for a new Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge! If it doesn't move...stamp it! Nicole Tugrul Independent Stampin' Up! A Cupcake Birthday

Image
I am taking a break today from Sale-a-bration cards and sharing a birthday card instead.  I haven't used Create a Cupcake in awhile so I brought it out for this card.  I used retired DSP, but the new ribbon and buttons from the Sale-a-bration catalog matched so I added those in.  The card base is embossed with the Stripes Embossing Folder, this poor embossing folder has been seriously neglected ever since the new Honeycomb and Cloudy Day Embossing folders came out!  I used Poppy Parade retired card stock for the cherry on the cupcake and the greeting as it was the color of the cherry on the DSP too.  The top of the cupcake is Pool Party to match the DSP also.  I liked this layout so much I ended up making a cute get well card with Patterned Occasions from Sale-a-bration that I will be sharing tomorrow. Here are the products featured in today's card. Create a Cupcake (wm) 121915  (cm) 121892 Cupcake Builder Punch 121807 Stripes Embossing Folder 123128 S...

Here Come the Penguins!

Image
I made some new penguin magnetic clothes pins to show you plus a couple other penguins I made last year. Here's the group together. I think they are pretty darn cute! Who doesn't love a penguin?! First, here are close ups of the clothes pin clips that I am officially obsessed with making.... I just love theses clips!  The penguins are too cute and I am using up scraps of designer paper that I hoard...um I mean save.. and putting them to good use! I also have a couple penguins from last year to show closer up.   First is the same owl punch art penguin turned into a pencil holder.  This is a great seller at the craft shows for me. Second penguin from last year is made from the top note die cut.  I had note cards tucked in the box last year, but this year I think I might want to find a cute way to package the clothes pins clips in there. Hope you like my penguins as much as I do!!  Be sure to check back, I've got git tags in the works to show you! If it doesn'...

More Punch Art Cards

Image
I was going to share my Penguin clothes pin magnets, but I forgot to take pictures before sending them to the bookstore to sell :-(   So I will have to make another set and take pictures so I can show you how stinkin' cute they are!!  Instead, I will show you a couple more punch art cards of Santa and Rudolph. First is Santa with the Top Note die cut as the background.  Ya think I like the top note die??  I have used it on about half of my cards...  Anyway, I really love the Santa so here is another card featuring him. And here is another card featuring Rudolph, I love the way this turned out!  What do you think? The new scoring tool is so great! Makes the lollies so much easier to make! I think this is my favorite card right now....just too cute!  Check back for more Christmas ideas! See you soon! If it doesn't move...stamp it!! Nicole Tugrul Your Independent Stampin; Up! Clothes Pin Magnets

Image
I am loving these clothes pin magnets!  I did a post awhile back with flowers.  This time it's Christmas theme magnets.  So far I have done Rudolph and penguins.  I am super addicted to making these...so there will be more to come!  Rudolph is first...aren't they cute!!  I am trying to use designer series paper that is retired so this project was perfect for that! Here they are all packaged up. I have these at Chapters Bookstore for sale along with Christmas cards I have been working on.  I will show you the penguin clips next, so be sure to check back!! Punch Art Penguins

Image
I have more punch art to share..this time it's penguins!  I love the owl punch for its versatility. Not only does it make a great reindeer, but it makes a great penguin! This is such a great card, very quick to put together.  The card uses two embossing folders (I love those embossing folders!) and a simple greeting.  It couldn't be easier!!  I also made some great clothes pin magnets with the penguin and the reindeer.  Very cute Christmas gifts for teachers or anyone else for that matter!  That will be for next time, so be sure to check back in two days!! Christmas Punch Art

Image
I am a huge fan of punch art, so I had to have punch art Christmas cards!  These cards are from a stamp-a-stack I did at Chapters Bookstore on Wednesday. We had a great time and everyone loved their cards! First is Rudolph, he is too cute!  Last year I made jumbo paper clip book marks with him.   This year I made cards.  I used the Snow Burst embossing folder (my new favorite) and the Top Note die cut.  Rudolph is made using the owl punch...super easy! Next is none other than Santa!  I love the punch art Santa!! I have seen lots of variations, this is the one I chose to do. Everything is current except the greeting.  It's an older set, but it was perfect for this card!!  This card uses three different embossing folders...I love my Big Shot! Finally, we have a snowman.  He is a cutie too! Used the Snow Burst embossing folder again, it just adds such great dimension! I hope you are inspired to pull out your punches for some Christmas punch art!...

I love Strawberries!

Image
I just love strawberries, and I have seen a lot of cute strawberry punch art cards so I made one too!  For my strawberry I used the Ornament Punch and the 5-Petal Flower Punch. I used Crumb Cake card stock (I can't stop using this color!!) which I embossed using the Big Shot and the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I embossed the strawberry itself as well with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing folder.  I added leaves and flowers for the finishing touches using the Little Leaves Sizzlits and the Boho Blossoms Punch.  The greeting was added to the corner with the Word Window punch layered onto the Modern Label punch.  This turned out to be another card I've made using only one stamp, the greeting.  Everything else is punched or die cut!  I don't know that I can make a card without my Big Shot or punches!  I just love how both make card making easy! Thanks for stopping by! If it doesn't move..stamp it!! Nicole Tugrul Your Independent Stampin' Up! Dem...

A Pretty Pink Flower

Image
When I first saw the new Occasions Mini Catalog, I fell in love with the new punches.  The flower punch and matching stamp set give an amazing amount of options!  When I first sat down to make something, I was a blank at first because of the endless possibilities.  So, for my first card I used colors that I tend to use a lot, pink pirouette, pretty in pink, certainly celery and so saffron. The flower petals were stamped in pretty in pink on pink pirouette, the bottom layer of petal are just pretty in pink card stock without stamping.  I built the flower on a circle I punched out and used glue dots to adhere the petals.  The base of the card is embossed with the new tulip embossing folder to frame out the flower.  I love how easy the whole thing came together.  I see lots of flower cards in my future, especially for Mother's Day! Thanks so much for stopping by.  I have another petal cone project in the works right now and some fabric items that I'l...
