Flowering Desert Sunset

Image
Ok...I made it through a few blog posts without sharing a Flowering Desert card.  So, today I created a birthday card for a family member that I want to share. A went with a watercolor background to create a sunset.  Same as before, I used my aqua painter and ink pads.  The colors from top to bottom are Poppy Parade , Mango Melody and Soft Suede .  I stamped plants in the background then made a focal point out of the larger cactus.  To create that, I stamped the cactus with Granny Apple Green and added shading with a sponge dauber . Around the edges I added Shaded Spruce to give depth.  It was stamped on Whisper White for a crisper image then fussy cut.  Dimensionals on the back made it stand out nicely. As for the sentiment, I used words from Well Said heat embossed in black .  These stamps are cling stamps so I used the tip I showed you in a previous blog post about using washi tape.  You can go HERE to check it out. Incredible Like You

Image
I was in water color mode again today and this time I used Incredible Like You for my card. Aren't these colors so serene?!  My color palette consists of Grapefruit Grove , Pool Party , and Pear Pizzaz .  The softness of all the colors just makes this card so perfect for a watercolor! First step was to heat emboss the stripes in white on the watercolor paper .  From there I added color with an aqua painter and Pool Party ink pad .  Some areas came out darker which I really like. The flowers are watercolor as well and fussy cut.  Each was stamped with Grapefruit Grove then softened with the aqua painter .  They are layered under and over the sentiment that is heat embossed on watercolor paper as well. Final touches are always important.  Pear Pizzaz leaves came from the Eclectic Layers Thinlits in the main catalog .  I trimmed them down so they would neatly tuck under the flowers.  A couple of cute little wooden element butterflies add extra dimension and were FREE!  They ...

Get ready to be inspired!!  This week we have a great sketch challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary!! Love this week's sketch!!  It took me a bit to pick which set to go with, but eventually decided on PERFECT MIX. This set is just too much fun!  Lots of ways to layer the different kitchen items!!  I embossed several of each stamp and played around with the design. In the end, I liked the way Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral worked together with the neutral tones.  And the best part, I have a bunch of extras for later....BONUS! Color Fusers Blog Hop: August 2016-Part 2

Image
Welcome to the second part of the August Blog Hops with the Color Fusers Design Team!  This month we are featuring a super gorgeous color combination of Cherry Cobbler, Watermelon Wonder and Smokey Slate.  Be sure to click on the links below to visit all the blogs for tons of fabulous inspiration! I went with my favorite style of the moment, CLEAN AND SIMPLE!  A perfect stamp to do this with is the new SUNSHINE SAYINGS . I used the coordinating thinlits to create a clean look in just 10 minutes! Love the whimsical look of these thinlits!  I went with Smokey Slate for my card base to the Watermelon Wonder heart and Cherry Cobbler sentiment would pop against it.  Extra stamping was required to complete the sentiment.  I added in "& hugs" below with Basic Gray Archival Ink and embossed "sending" in white to add above.  I love the different textures and colors combined together....very fun! Give this wonderful color combination a try, it's a keeper!  Below is a ...

Swing on a Star

Image
Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we have a really fun theme, SWING ON A STAR. All of our projects will have something to do with stars.  I actually have 2 cards to share today featuring the SHOOTING STAR BUNDLE !  I has so much fun with this technique that I had to make more than one! Now you can see why one wasn't enough!  I has way too much fun with this technique that I learned from Wendy Cranford.  I had to change up the last bit of the process a little to use only Stampin' Up! and it worked beautifully! This first card features the slider die cut where the star can shoot across the sky.  The galaxy watercolor technique makes the background so realistic!  I used watercolor paper (can you believe this was a pure white piece of paper!) and added LOTS of color!  The star was also done on watercolor paper so the colors would blend and look as beautiful as the galaxy background. Knowing full well that one card would not be enough, I m...

Marquee Messages

I have a fun new take on the new stamp set MARQUEE MESSAGES .....I went METALLIC! I have been playing with the awesome FABULOUS FOIL DESIGNER ACETATE and was inspired to put together a card full of SILVER. I went with Basic Gray and Smokey Slate as my coordinating colors.  When put together with silver, you get a fantastic metallic look.  The entire marquee is completely embossed in silver.  I did one on Smokey Slate and one of Basic Gray so I could cut out the arrow to pop up on dimensionals.  I added embossed sentiments as well to make sure they stood out.  To make the outlined sentiment bolder, I colored the letters in with markers. Did you notice the fun polka dots??  That's the FABULOUS FOIL DESIGNER ACETATE I talked about earlier.  I love all the fun patterns and you can use the front in gold or the back in silver! Give the metallic look a try, love the glamour!  You can see the supplies I used below and click on each to shop.  Now is a great time to get items from your wish...
