Color Smash Masculine Card

Image
I sat down and played a little with two techniques from last week, COLOR SMASH and COLOR RESIST .  I went with a masculine look and a simple design. I must confess, the card I originally envisioned turned out terrible!  It happens all the time, a vision doesn't quite work in reality.  Well, that happened with this card!  I had planned on adding a butterfly over this background, but it was too busy and didn't look quite right.  So, I improvised and added a simple sentiment turning this into a fantastic masculine card! The background has leaves embossed from Butterfly Basics then color added with the COLOR SMASH technique.  I only used two colors for the color smash, Mint Macaron and Wild Wasabi.  I added in a bolder sentiment in Mossy Meadow so it would stand out from the background. Of course I had to add a leaf to the envelope, I love to coordinate!  I also added a nice sentiment inside with the hostess set Happy Birthday Everyone but forgot to take a pic...oops!  Anyway, I ...

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Bog Hop!!  All during June we are featuring different FUN FOLD CARDS and this week is the SINGLE STAIR STEP CARD! You should be arriving from Mary Brown's amazing blog Stamper Camper's Corner , wasn't her card fabulous!!  If you are just starting out here, welcome and enjoy the ride!  Be sure to stop at each blog to check out all of the cool cards we have for you today. Today's FUN FOLD card is new style for me and I have to say I LOVE IT!  It was so much easier than I thought and has a great WOW factor since it stands beautifully. As I thought about what to do with the card, I first focused on how to embellish the outer panels.  I looked through my new stamps and the vine in from the Hostess set Floral Wings jumped out at me.  Perfect fit for the slender 1" panels!  From there the rest just came together like magic! You need a gorgeous butterfly to go with the floral vines, so I ...

Golden Butterfly

Image
Inspiration can be found in all sorts of places.  Pinterest is of course my favorite, but Stampin' Up! gives us resources too....a great perk!  In the March /April Stampin' Success, I saw a GORGEOUS butterfly card, so I did my own thing with the idea.  Now, if I'd been using my thinking cap, I would have taken a picture of my card next to their idea, but I didn't so you'll have to bear with me!! The original is with the same colors, but it was a slender card.  I changed up my butterfly and the background details too. How about this gold butterfly.....GORGEOUS!!  I loved adding layers to give it more dimension.  So, the moral of the story is....LOOK AROUND YOU, INSPIRATION IS EVERYWHERE!!  Color combinations, embellishment ideas, you name it! Butterflies Thinlit Special Offer! The Butterflies Thinlits which have been on backorder for forever are now available again!  And since Stampin' Up! is SO AMAZING and realized that this has been very frust...

Butterfly Basics for TSSC359

Image
Happy Monday!!  I've got a quick post for you today for the Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.   Mary Jo has a really fun sketch for us, take a look. I used Butterfly Basics this week with Park Lane Designer Series Paper. I love this particular design from the Park Lane Designer Series Paper.  Butterfly Basics is the perfect stamp set to pair with it.  I added a Calypso Coral Butterfly and a fun trim with a Finishing Touches Edgelit.  The sentiment is stamped with Old Olive on the Pear Pizzaz card base for a nice contrast.  A couple of tiny pearls are the finishing touch! I hope you liked today's card and feel inspired to make your own!  Just go to Techno Stamper for all the details plus more great samples from the Design Team. To a Great Friend

It's Monday and time for the Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge !  Let's take a look at the great sketch Mary Jo has for us this week. I wanted to use a set that I haven't tried out yet, so I pulled out the Sale-a-bration set Simply Wonderful. I must admit, I struggled a little with the design of this card.  I knew what I wanted to put in the half circle, but the rest was up in the air.  I went to the fun Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper for color inspiration then just went with it! I picked this fun pattern, love all the colors!  From there the card started to really come together.  I used a sentiment from Simply Wonderful then added more of the colors with the butterflies from Butterfly Basics.  The ribbon is from the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack from Sale-a-bration....love this pack of goodies!  The last thing I ended up doing was adding speckles from Gorgeous Grunge on the So Saffron card base, it was looking too plain and needed a little someth...

A Butterfly Birthday

Image
One of the things I love about stamping is the ability to customize.  When it comes to birthdays, I try to make my card match the gift bag or paper that I'm using.  Today I have a set that I made for a birthday last week that turned out amazing. Doesn't the card look like it came with the bag!!  I was so tickled when hubby found this gorgeous bag because I knew immediately what to do for a matching card. The Butterfly Basics Bundle matched the theme of the bag beautifully.  I used Basic Black and Very Vanilla along with the Typeset Designer Series Paper.  The card was very simple to make since it's just one color of ink, Memento Tuxedo Black. I stamped off to make the leaves in the center of the card a bit lighter and more vintage looking.  It also helps the sentiment stand out better, especially since it overlaps a little.  A strip of the beautiful Typeset Designer Paper adds to the vintage feel and creates balance.  I used a little bit of retire...
