Tangelo Twist

Image
Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This month we are featuring the In Colors that will be retiring soon.  Today we are coming to the last In Color, TANGELO TWIST . I pulled out a retiring set and a newer accessory to make a really fun card featuring tons of TANGELO TWIST. Told ya there was lots of Tangelo Twist on this card!!  I went a little crazy with it!  It all started with the idea of using RAY OF SUNSHINE with the SUNBURST THINLIT . I wanted the rays to be Tangelo Twist, but I also wanted the card base to be that same color.  So, I needed a layer in between.  In comes the also retiring COLOR ME IRRESISTIBLE Designer Paper.  I chose a geometric design and sponged on color.  It turned out to be a great contrasting layer! I took it a step further and added a lot of color inside the card as well.  I was able to incorporate the die cut too! I die cut a sunburst to use as a template for sponging.  I kept the sponging light so the sentiment could reall

Number of Years

My little guy just turned 3 years old yesterday, so I have a fun post for you today.  I made a couple of birthday cards with NUMBER OF YEARS and show how adding just a few extra details really makes a difference! I started out with the simple card shown at the top.  I like the way it turned out, but it could use a little something more. I love all the color on the card and the balloons give a fun whimsical feel.  This would be a great design for making a card quickly when you don't have time for more detail. In this second card, you can see a more finished look by adding a couple of extra details.  I added a little extra pop of color by adding a Crushed Curry matting under the designer paper and the white circle. I also added more color by using GORGEOUS GRUNGE to add a splash of Pool Party ink behind the number 3.  This is actually my favorite detail, it really made a big difference with just a small addition of color.  Lastly, I added color to the balloons .  I stamped the s

Blackberry Bliss

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This month we are featuring the In Colors that will be retiring soon.  Today’s color is BLACKBERRY BLISS! For a little inspiration, I pulled out the BOHEMIAN DSP and picked out a Blackberry Bliss pattern. Isn't this too fun!  I love the way Blackberry Bliss and Bermuda Bay compliment each other!  As you can see, I ended up with two patterns from the Bohemian DSP.  The one I used for the background reminded me of sprinkles which is just perfect for a birthday card! To make the words from the PARTY POP-UP THINLITS really stand out, I added Bermuda Bay behind the die cut.  Even though the Hip Hip Hooray die cut covers most of the card, it still needed something.  So I grabbed the retiring set CUPCAKE PARTY . I used the coordinating BUILD A CUPCAKE punch to add a cupcake to the front of the card.  But I didn't stop there, there is a cupcake on the envelope and inside the card too! Did you notice that the sentime

Mossy Meadow

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This month we are featuring the In Colors that will be retiring soon.  Today’s color is MOSSY MEADOW! Since I just got new stamps this week, I had to use one of those sets!  One of the biggies that was on my wish list was NUMBER OF YEARS. I think this is just the most useful stamp set!!  Think of all the things you can do with these numbers and all the fabulous sentiments to go with them! For this card, I got an early start on my anniversary card.  This fall will be 15 years and my husband's favorite color is dark green, so this was a no brainer! To make Mossy Meadow the main color, I used it for the card base and the background for the numbers.  For a pop of color, Calypso Coral was the perfect choice.  It goes so beautifully with the deep Mossy Meadow. If you haven't given this stamp set a try, please do!  I am wishing I had made this purchase months ago...such an amazing stamp set!  And as always, here is th

Party with Cake Funfold

I have a really FUN card for you today!  I am so loving PARTY WITH CAKE and wishing I'd ordered it sooner! Another bold card!  This stamp set is just so perfect for the bolder brighter look.  But wait until you see the inside! It's a Pop Out Swing Shaker card!!  I originally make this type of card last fall and it was very popular.  If you'd like to see the original, click HERE to see the card and video with instructions. The original Pop Out Swing Shaker that I did had the typical shaker front with window sheet and dimensionals.  For this one I went with the flat shaker using VELLUM CARDSTOCK .  The bits and pieces inside the shaker were the cut outs from the die cuts that coordinate with the stamps called PARTY POP UP THINLITS .  I also added a few sequins inside and out.  The die cut sentiment was also from the left overs from die cutting.  It's so fabulous to have a use for the intended die cut and the scraps...love it! I hope you enjoyed this card today, I sure h

Party with Cake

Sometimes I love to do graphic, bolder cards.  I just (finally!) got PARTY WITH CAKE today and the first thing that came to mind was bold! I don't know about you, but when I think of bold I think of Basic Black, Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo. Melon Mambo is my main color, so I used it for the card base and the piece of cake.  I sprinkled in Bermuda Bay as an accent color.  The sentiment needed to stand out from the graphic designer paper, so I heat embossed in black. I stopped there with the front, almost added sequins, but less can be more sometimes! With all the fantastic sentiments in PARTY WITH CAKE it's easy to embellish the inside of your card to coordinate with the outside.  So, I carried over the sentiment in Black Archival ink and Melon Mambo then added sprinkles. I can't wait to dive into this bundle and bring you more samples!  I got several other bundles as well so I'll be a very busy girl this next week! Guess what??  Today you can see the APRIL Mini Sessio

Picture Perfect Starfish

For some reason, I just love the starfish in the PICTURE PERFECT stamp set.  Don't get me wrong, I like the hummingbird and the flower too, but the starfish is what sold me!  That and the fantastic sentiments. The beautiful yet simple cards that can be made are just wonderful!  I procrastinated on a birthday card that I needed for today, so right away I knew that a CAS card was what I needed!  And this lovely starfish saved the day! All in all I think I had about ten minutes total in this card.  The front is watercolor paper with a wash of Pool Party across the front.  As that was drying, I stamped a starfish with a combination of Crumb Cake and tip Top Taupe.  I have been using watercolor paper for the starfish, but I don't actually watercolor it.  I like the realism that the texture of the paper gives.  I fussy cut it out and used dimensionals to add it.  The sentiment is heat embossed, love the bold black against the softer colors. I hope you've enjoyed this quick CAS
