Party with Cake Funfold

Image
I have a really FUN card for you today!  I am so loving PARTY WITH CAKE and wishing I'd ordered it sooner! Another bold card!  This stamp set is just so perfect for the bolder brighter look.  But wait until you see the inside! It's a Pop Out Swing Shaker card!!  I originally make this type of card last fall and it was very popular.  If you'd like to see the original, click HERE to see the card and video with instructions. The original Pop Out Swing Shaker that I did had the typical shaker front with window sheet and dimensionals.  For this one I went with the flat shaker using VELLUM CARDSTOCK .  The bits and pieces inside the shaker were the cut outs from the die cuts that coordinate with the stamps called PARTY POP UP THINLITS .  I also added a few sequins inside and out.  The die cut sentiment was also from the left overs from die cutting.  It's so fabulous to have a use for the intended die cut and the scraps...love it! I hope you enjoyed this card today, I sure h...

Congrats Bear

Image
Last week I did a fun little fall card featuring the bear from THANKFUL FOREST FRIENDS .  I loved the design and a lot of people said it would be a darling baby card.  SO....today I have a baby version for you. Isn't this too cute!  I got my inspiration from the color challenge at Create with Connie and Mary. When I saw the colors for this week, I thought it might work for a baby card... the one I was thinking about doing already! When looking at the stamps in THANKFUL FOREST FRIENDS, I noticed that the stamp with a vine on the top and bottom would make a nice frame for one of the EXPRESSIONS NATURAL ELEMENTS .  To create the frame, I masked off the sentiment. A little washi tape covering the words kept that area ink free, just make sure you peel off the washi tape before you stamp!  Here's my image once the washi was removed. And now you can see the clear image of the vine only once it's stamped. This is a great way to get more out of your stamps! Just a quick reminder, ...

Spooky Pop Out Swing Shaker

Image
It's been awhile since I've done a shaker card so I was going through withdrawal and HAD to make one! Isn't this spooky fun!!  I took a couple of shakers I've done in the past and combined the ideas to create a WINDOW FRAME POP OUT SWING SHAKER!  Now that's a mouthful!! The window frame die from HEARTH AND HOME THINLITS makes the opening in the front of the card as well as the shaker! The card was made with lots of dark colors to give a Halloween feel.  The card base is Basic Gray with the window frame in Basic Black and the scene on Smokey Slate.  A few metallic sequins in the window give a little sparkle and the brick texture on the base gives depth. The inside has a few cool effects too.  The spider in the corner and a border along the bottom with HAPPY HAUNTING Designer paper.  The scene in the window is so fun too, it's the fall scene from the HAPPY SCENES stamp set.  Stamped it black it completes the spooky look I was going for! You can easily make your o...

Embossing Folder Technique

Image
Let's take a break from Halloween today and talk technique!  I want to show another card using the WOODLAND EMBOSSING FOLDER to add color and dimension to you cards. Isn't this gorgeous!  The colors are subtle but give lots of dimension to the card.  But before I get to the details, I got my inspiration from the sketch challenge at Create with Connie and Mary. This sketch has so many possibilities!  I went in a masculine direction so I could show you how versatile the embossing folders can be. Click Adding Color with Embossing Folders to download a PDF file with the instructions so you can give this great technique a try!  To watch the video I made showing how to brayer on the color, click HERE .
