With Father's Day fast approaching, I have been working on cards for the men in my life.  I bet you can guess my go to set for masculine cards..... yep....Guy Greetings! I was one happy camper when this set showed up in the Occasions Catalog and even happier now that it's going into the new Annual Catalog!  You can do something for every guy in your life, it's really got a little bit of everything!  My hubby is a carpenter by trade so the tools in this set were a no brainer for his card this year.  My inspiration???  Well, Create with Connie and Mary has a great color challenge going so that's where I started. When the new In Colors were revealed, I started something new to help with color inspiration.  I punched circles for all the color families so I can sit down and put together great new combinations.  I have been taking pictures of the circles next to my cards whether new colors or old to show them off better.  So, here's today's colors with...

It's time for a Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge !!  Now that the challenges are every other week you have more time to create and join us!  This week's sketch is so versatile, you can do so many things with it. I had just gotten my April My Paper Pumpkin when I sat down to work on this card.  I played around with some of the extra bits and pieces and ended up with a fun card for Father's Day. For me, one of the exciting challenges with My Paper Pumpkin kits is using every last bit, even the parts you may not think of.  This card is a great example of this....guess where I got the stripes. Yep, I cut out the strips of color that were left over from the punch outs.  Perfect for the sketch! To add a matting to the sentiment, I cut down a blue card base.  I used part of the extra for the bottom strip of paper then saved the rest for another time! And of course the card wouldn't be finished without one of the fun bows from the kit.  It couldn't be easier...

It's Monday and time for the Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.  Mary Jo has a great sketch for us this week, take a look. I love the sketch, but didn't go with the floral design.  Instead I used Blue Ribbon and Moonlight DSP to make a card for Father's Day. I used the Moonlight Designer Series Paper with the Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Basic Grey and Smokey Slate colors as my starting point.  1.  The card base is Smokey Slate with a layer of the Smokey Slate grid design from Moonlight DSP. 2.  I added in geometrics using another design from the paper stack. 3.  To carry on with the angular theme, I embossed a piece of Lost Lagoon with the Arrows Embossing Folder and layered it over the two designer papers. 4.  I stamped the ribbon with Hello Honey on Whisper White and fussy cut it. 5.  Stamped the "1" with Lost Lagoon on Whisper White and punched it out then glued it in place. 6.  I stamped "DAD" using the Photopolymer Alphabet that is no long...

Thursday has come again quickly, spring cleaning made time just fly by!   This week we have a wonderful color challenge from Create with Connie and Mary . I love these soft colors together!  I think Basic Grey and Soft Sky look wonderful together to begin with.  Add in a little Sahara Sand and you have a gorgeous group of colors!  With Father's Day being the next holiday around the corner, I went with a card for Dad this week. I used all new products for this card and I must say I LOVE THEM ALL!  The sentiment is from Work of Art and "DAD" is a new Photopolymer Alphabet called Metro Type. The card base is Basic Gray with a layer of Moonlight Designer Series Paper. The focal point is a layer of Whisper White on Sahara Sand.  I used the watercolor stamps from Work of Art to create a background with Sahara Sand and Soft Sky ink.  I stamped the sentiment with Basic Gray over the Soft Sky ink in the center.  I almost stopped there, but it looked too pl...

Welcome to Flashback Friday!! This week we travel back to 2005 for the set When I Grow up.  Here's a quick look at the set. This is such a cute set, so I pulled it out to make a Father's Day card for this week's flashback. I made the layout simple.  The Crumb Cake base card is embossed with the Argyle EF.  I added in a piece of retired DSP with Soft Suede CS behind it.  I stamped the greeting directly on the DSP with Soft Suede ink.  The image of the little boy was stamped with Soft Suede ink on Glossy CS then colored in with markers and a blender pen.  I cut the boy out by hand and adhered it to the card with dimensionals. Here's a better look at the boy.  I kept to the same colors as the DSP, using browns, blues, and grey.
