It's getting closer and closer to Halloween so now is the time to start crafting!  Last week I shared a post for a Halloween party using the fun HOWL-O-WEEN TREAT BUNDLE. Soft Sky Woodlands

Image
I keep finding myself coming back to the gorgeous WOODLAND EMBOSSING FOLDER for my fall cards. This time I went with a soft color using the brayer technique I shared with you. Isn't this simple but gorgeous!  Soft Sky and Tip Top Taupe make a beautiful combination on this card.  Not your typical fall color combo, but I am loving it! I used the brayer to add Soft Sky ink to the embossing folder to make a lovely background for the trees.  I also added a little color to the cracks of the trees with a Sahara Sand marker.  I think that little extra step makes the trees look more realistic.  I did the same thing HERE with another brayered card. Since I wanted the beauty of the background to shine, the sentiment is a simple one.  "Grateful for you" from MERRY EVERYTHING was stamped with Early Espresso on Tip Top Taupe and die cut with a CIRCLE FRAMELIT .  I added a few dimensionals to the back with a bit of GOLD CORDING TRIM before centering it on the card.  And as always, a

Festive Flower Punch

Image
I love making the most of my stamps and punches, that includes using them for things other than their intention.  Today I am going to show you that the FESTIVE FLOWER PUNCH is for more than just poinsettias. How about a sunflower style card!  I went with colors and a look that is perfect for the end of summer and early fall.  The flower is built with Hello Honey petals and Mossy Meadow leaves.  But the Early Espresso center is what really gives it the look of a sunflower. The leaves are stamped with Mossy Meadow veins to help bring the flower to life.  And the petals have light sponging along the edges which gives them more depth. Here's a video from Stampin' Up! showing how to assemble the flower.  I used the same amount of petals for my sunflower. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTRP5cvrgrg[/embed] The flower comes together quickly!  I found that giving too much dimension to the petals made it hard to glue them in place, so I tried to keep the gluing ends a little fla

Grateful

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are featuring FALL CARDS. As I'm sure you know by now, LIGHTHEARTED LEAVES is my most favorite fall stamp set.  So with it sitting on my desk already, it was perfect for today's card. I went for an elegant look with earthy colors. The leaf and the "grateful" die cut were easy to come up with, but I didn't quite know what I wanted to put them on.  I ended up with a banner made up of a piece of INTO THE WOODS designer paper (green dots design) and a piece of vellum layered on top.  The vellum muted the designer paper so the "grateful" die cut didn't get lost. The colors worked together beautifully!  I love the Pear Pizzaz leaf stamped with Mossy Meadow, it was bold yet didn't overpower the sentiment in Early Espresso cardstock.  I think the vellum played a nice part too and softened the whole look.  A few gold sequins added the finishing touch and completed the look I

Happy Poinsettia

I went outside the box again with REASON FOR THE SEASON and did a wedding card to show this set isn't just for Christmas! Isn't this pretty in pinks and coral!  I was inspired by the color challenge this week at Create with Connie and Mary. A floral card was the first thought I had when seeing these colors.  So I went back to REASON FOR THE SEASON to see how the colors worked on the poinsettia. I ended up doing the outline of the flower in Watermelon Wonder and added color to the petals with Calypso Coral stamped off once.  Blushing Bride made a lovely background with the Watercolor Wash background stamp. Since we have Blushing Bride sequins, I had to add a few in plus a bit of gold thread.  I think they added the finishing touch the card needed.  As far as the greeting goes, I went with my favorite set for sentiments, COTTAGE GREETINGS in Watermelon Wonder.  I love the end result, a very pretty wedding card!  So now you have TWO card ideas from me to use REASON FOR THE SEASON

Let's get ready for Halloween!

I don't know about you, but I love little treats and decorations for Halloween.  I am already planning out some party ideas that I thought would be fun to share! I've been busy as you can see!  It all started with the thought of doing a banner and I just kept going and going! Each piece of the banner has different stamps and die cuts from the Howl-o-ween Treat bundle and was way more fun to create than I anticipated!  The panels are each 4" x 6" with the banner end hand cut.  I am actually working on a tutorial to release next week with the instructions for the banner and the treats so you can make your own!  UPDATE: YOU CAN FIND THE TUTORIAL HERE! Now let's check out all the treats.  I wanted a variety so there would be something for everyone's taste. I am well known for my chocolate chip cookies, so a cookie envelope was the first idea to come to mind.  They are 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" and are just the right size for a cookie!  The envelope punch board mad

Leafy Birthday

I'm back to leaves again today!  This time it's a birthday card made with LIGHTHEARTED LEAVES. I went simple and used a fabulous sketch from Try Stampin' - or not- on Tuesday . I love how this sketch can be taken in so many ways!  I went clean and simple with neutral colors and a few fall details. On a Soft Suede card base, I added a circle of INTO THE WOODS designer paper and an Old Olive leaf from LIGHTHEARTED LEAVES.   Did you notice the cute little acorn next to the greeting??  I just got the September MY PAPER PUMPKIN and it has a bunch of cute fall stamps, one of which is this cute little acorn!  And speaking of MY PAPER PUMPKIN ,  Stampin' Up! is doing something great for October. They are donating money for Breast Cancer Research when you subscribe!  For each current subscriber they are donating $1 and for each new subscriber they will donate $1.  So now is a great time to check out My Paper Pumpkin!! I am so glad I decided to join in this week's TST chall

Spooky Pop Out Swing Shaker

Image
It's been awhile since I've done a shaker card so I was going through withdrawal and HAD to make one! Isn't this spooky fun!!  I took a couple of shakers I've done in the past and combined the ideas to create a WINDOW FRAME POP OUT SWING SHAKER!  Now that's a mouthful!! The window frame die from HEARTH AND HOME THINLITS makes the opening in the front of the card as well as the shaker! The card was made with lots of dark colors to give a Halloween feel.  The card base is Basic Gray with the window frame in Basic Black and the scene on Smokey Slate.  A few metallic sequins in the window give a little sparkle and the brick texture on the base gives depth. The inside has a few cool effects too.  The spider in the corner and a border along the bottom with HAPPY HAUNTING Designer paper.  The scene in the window is so fun too, it's the fall scene from the HAPPY SCENES stamp set.  Stamped it black it completes the spooky look I was going for! You can easily make your o
