Man Up

Image
Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week our theme is MAN UP so we are featuring MASCULINE cards! Masculine cards are usually harder than flowery, girly cards.  So, I did spend a little extra time pondering today's card.  I had zero, yes I said ZERO ideas.  It happens to all of us at some point.  What do you do when you need a little spark of creativity??  I usually look to the catalog to re-visit the stamps and ideas that made me love them to begin with.  For today's card, the spark I needed came from looking through the main catalog and seeing the sentiments in PERFECT PENNANTS. "Sending Good Thoughts Your Way" made me think of the car in Beautiful Ride.  What a perfect sentiment to put with a car!  Then, I decided to change it up a little and cut out the middle and replaced it with "love". An unusual aspect to this card is the designer paper.  This striped pattern, from the Have a Cuppa DSP Stack, was the source of my ...

Lately I've gotten into more clean and simple cards.  Today's was inspired by the sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches. This card is most certainly crisp and clean with Whisper White as the card base. The color inspiration came from my stash of washi tape.  The bottom layer is from Stacked with Love Washi in the Occasions Catalog, I love the stripes.  I also wanted to pull in a cheerful color, so the next layer is the Hello Honey washi tape from the Happiness Is Project Life Accessory Kit. With a clean card base comes a clean focal point.  The sentiment from Perfect Pennants is in Memento Tuxedo Black with a sweet little Hello Honey envelope below. Did you notice anything different about this card??  I restrained myself and didn't add one single sequin or rhinestone....can you believe it!!   The only extra splash of color came from the little Cherry Cobbler heart on the envelope.  Are you wondering where the envelope came from??  Well,...

Make a Wish

It's Thursday so there is a new challenge from Create with Connie and Mary .  This week we have a color challenge, take a look. I love this color combo, perfect for a masculine card.  I am always in need of birthday cards, so I went with that. The card base is Smokey Slate, perfect for the bolder colors that are paired with it.  A strip of Summer Starfruit embossed with the Arrows EF becomes the background for the focal point.  I love how the Summer Starfruit pops against the gray, the colors look great together! The focal point is pretty simple yet bold.  I stamped "make a wish" with Pacific Point on Whisper White and die cut it with a Banner Framelit.  I stamped the greeting a second time with Summer Starfruit and cut out the center.  I added that piece to the banner to add color to the greeting.  I first laid the white banner on the Pacific Point DSP, but it just wasn't right.  So, I adhered the banner to Summer Starfruit card stock and cu...

Welcome!  Today I have a fun and simple card to share that I made for the sketch challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday.  First, let me show you the sketch. I love how this card turned out, simple yet beautiful. The whole design for this card came from the tag in the center.  It comes from the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit.  I love that the kit is great for cards as well as tags.  I went with the Calypso Coral tag since it coordinates well with the Sweet Sorbet DSP. The pieces of DSP are layered on a Soft Sky base with Soft Sky Seam Binding over top.  The tag has a sentiment from Perfect Pennants and is adhered with dimensionals over the ribbon.  And that's it!  A super easy and simple card that can be pulled together quickly.  Perfect for using up scraps of DSP or throwing together when you need a last minute card. I hope you'll join the challenge with me!  You can find all the details plus more great samples from the Design Team at Try Stampin...

Make a Wish!

Welcome!  It's Monday and time for a new sketch challenge from Technostamper.  As always Mary Jo has a fun and fabulous sketch for us! I built my card off the Fresh Prints Paper Pack, I just love the combo of Coastal Cabana and Baked Brown Sugar. Isn't this just too fun!!  As soon as I saw the three banners, I knew that "make a wish" from Perfect Pennants was the way to go. Each word was inked and stamped individually then die cut with the banner framelit from the Circle Card Thinlets.  The left end was snipped and each was matted with card stock to match the ink. The second focal point is the cupcake.  The bottom of the cupcake was stamped with Baked Brown Sugar on the matching card stock.  I used the Create a Cupcake stamp set and matching punch.  For a little splash of color, I added in a Strawberry Slush cherry for the top of the cupcake.  The last touch, and my favorite, is the gold sequin trim.  The bit of bling really finished off the ...
