Winter Frost DSP Card for CCMC275

Image
It's Thursday and time for the new sketch challenge from Create with Connie and Mary! Banners are so much fun, I was happy to see this sketch!  The hardest part of the challenge was picking a Designer Series Paper, there are so many wonderful choices!  I looked through my scraps and ended up using the Winter Frost DSP Pack from the Holiday Catalog. I went a little wild with the banners and used more than the 5 on the sketch.  I just liked the way more banners looked!   Here are  the details: 1.  Used Bermuda Bay (my new favorite color!) as the card base.  Added a piece of 4 x 5 1/4" piece of Coastal Cabana. 2.  Cut a strip of Bermuda Bay card stock and embossed it using the Needlepoint Border embossing folder with the scallop edge.  I attached the banners to this piece then added it to the card.  The banners were 1/2" x 2 1/2" cut from scraps of Winter Frost DSP.  I attached them with sticky strip. 3.  Added a 1/4" strip of Silver Glimmer Paper across the top of

Friends are the Perfect Blend for TSSC286

Monday's here already and we have a great new sketch challenge from Mary Jo at Technostamper. I love this sketch, so fun!  I decided to do a friendship card using Perfect Blend which is one of my favorite sets. This was simple to make, here's the details. 1.  Used Basic Gray card stock as my card base.  Added a layer of Soft Sky card stock embossed with the Alphabet Press Embossing Folder, love the texture! 2.  I went simple with the scallop design on the card.  I embossed a strip of Basic Gray card stock with the scalloped edge embossing folder from Needlepoint Borders.  I fussy cut around the scallops then added it to the card with a little Multi-purpose Tombow Adhesive. 3.  Cut a piece of Birthday Basics DSP with the largest tag from Chalk Talk Framelits.  I adhered it to a piece of Gumball Green card stock and fussy cut around the tag to make a thin layer of green.  Added a piece of retired Basic Gray satin ribbon to the top of the tag.  I used glue dots to hold the ribbon

Flashback Friday: Best Fiends and a Tutorial

Image
It's Friday!!  Time for a new flashback.  Today we go back to 2006 for the Halloween set Best Fiend. Instead of sharing a card today, I am sharing a fun little Halloween treat and a tutorial so you can make one too! These spooky treats are made using the Chalk Talk framelits, the largest tag is the outside of the box! I made this projects to use up a couple sheets of double embossed paper that I did last year.  I used the Spider Web Embossing Folder to emboss Kiwi Kiss card stock for a card.  A quarter sheet of paper is just right for die cutting 2 tags for the box.  I did a quick picture tutorial for you. This project is super easy and makes a fun gift! I didn't have to do any embellishment to the box itself, the double embossing was enough!  I just added a tag with a greeting.  I used another tag from the Chalk Talk Framelits.  I stamped the spider from Best Fiends and added a greeting from the set Twick or Tweet that I featured a few weeks ago.  The greeting was just too per

A Color Challenge for CCMC274

I have a fun interactive card to share for this week's Color challenge at Create with Connie and Mary.  First, let's talk colors.  This week we are using Raspberry Ripple, Soft Sky and Very Vanilla. These colors are PERFECT for a snowflake card, sooooo it's a  Festive Flurry card yet again.  I am really enjoying this bundle, you can't go wrong.  The snowflake stamps are beautiful and you can die cut them to boot, what's not to love?!  I did an interactive card to mix it up a little this time, take a look. I wanted something unusual, and this fits the bill!  It takes a little work, but totally worth it!  I found a great tutorial at Splitcoaststampers that I've been wanting to try, so a color challenge was the perfect time.  For the directions, click HERE . The card has Raspberry Ripple for the base with a layer of Soft Sky and Very Vanilla added.  the Very Vanilla layer was embossed with the new Stylish Stripes EF.  Once the Soft Sky and Very Vanilla layers are a

Festive Flurry for Try Stampin #141

Today I have a fun Festive Flurry card to share that I made for this week's Try Stampin' On Tuesday sketch #141.  First, let me show you the challenge sketch. Now here is the Festive Flurry card I made. When I first looked at this week's sketch I immediately thought about snowflakes.  I know this week the theme if we wanted was to be more of a Halloween, but I saw snowflakes and went with it!  Here's what I did. 1.  Bermuda Bay for the base card with a layer of Smokey Slate that was embossed with  the Northern Flurry EF. 2.  I added in a piece of DSP from the Winter Frost DSP Pack.  To hide the seam I added a piece of Basic Gray 1/4" Grossgrain ribbon. 3.  Die but a circle of Bermuda Bay using the Circle Framelits.  Stamped the smallest snowflake from Festive Flurry in Smokey Slate and die cut it with the matching framelit.  Added both to the bottom of the card. 4.  Stamped the greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Bermuda Bay and punched it out with the Window Punch.

Toil & Trouble for TSSC285

It's Monday and time for another great sketch challenge from Mary Jo at Technostamper. I decided to go with Halloween for this week's sketch.  I haven't used Toil & Trouble for a couple weeks, so I pulled it out for this card. I am super pleased with how this turned out.  It's a pretty simple card to put together, here's what I did. 1.  Picked Crumb Cake card stock for the card base.  Stamped the large stamp from Toil & Trouble with White Craft Ink on the right side. 2.  Stamped the skeleton with Basic Gray on the bottom left of the large white stamp, overlapped slightly. 3.  Cut a strip of Witches Brew DSP 1 1/4" x 5 1/2" and adhered it to the left side of the card. 4.  Finally, added punched black bats (retired Bat Punch) with dimensionals. And there you have it, a super fun Halloween card that took no time at all! I hope you will join me and create a card of your own! It's Thursday and time for a new weekly challenge from Create with Connie and Mary.  This week is a great sketch, take a look. I love this sketch.  I have yet to do a card with the punched out area, so I was happy to do one for this week's challenge card.  I went with a Festive Flurry card since this is Preview week for the new Create with Connie and Mary Winter Collection 2013.   I just love when a card comes together easily.  This card was just that, it practically made itself!  Here are the details: 1.  Bermuda Bay for the card base.  A layer of Winter Frost DSP comes next.  I die cut a circle out of the left side with a circle framelit. 2.  Added a strip of Silver Glimmer Paper measuring 1 1/4" x 4 1/4". 3.  Next I die cut a smaller circle of Smokey Slate card stock using a circle framelits.  I stamped a Bermuda Bay snowflake on Whisper White and die cut it with the matching framelit. 4.  Added the snowflake and Smokey Slate circle to the cut out area of the card

A Birthday Card for TSSC284

It's Monday and time for a new Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge from Technostamper.  Here's a look at this week's great sketch. I sat and thought about this one for a moment as I needed to decide about the DSP to use.  I decided on a birthday card using Birthday Basics DSP.  This was a really fun card to make!  The DSP is gorgeous, so I couldn't pick just one design!  I used Bermuda Bay for the card base.  I cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock to 4"x 4 1/2" for the DSP to be layered on.  Each piece of DSP is 4 1/4" x 3/4".  Five pieces fit on just right.  I added a Cherry Cobbler banner, then my focal point.  The cupcake is from Create a Cupcake stamped on Very Vanilla Card stock.  The bottom of the cupcake is Smokey Slate, the top is Bermuda Bay and the ribbon stamp and cherry are Cherry Cobbler.  The cherry is punched out using the matching Cupcake Builder punch.  The last detail added was a birthday greeting at the bottom from Sweet Essentia

Flashback Friday: On the Go

Image
Welcome back to Flashback Friday!  This week we are traveling back to 1999 for the set On the Go.  I got this set for masculine cards, lots of on the go activities!  Here is a picture of the set. I am trying to keep a balance of how many girly cards I make versus guy cards...it never balances!  So I went with a fun guy card since I already had Gorgeous Grunge out from yesterday's card.  Take a look. Fun guy card, huh!  What guy doesn't love to go out and get muddy on the ATV?!  I had a blast making this card, there a two great new stamp sets this year that work perfect with it!  The first of course is Gorgeous Grunge, and the second is Rev Up the Fun.  The greetings are PERFECT for this stamp! Here's the basics of what I did.  Went with Whisper White card base.  Added splotches and such from Gorgeous Grunge using Crumb Cake Ink, Soft Suede Ink, and Sahara Sand Ink.  Added the birthday greeting from Rev Up the Fun, stamped with Soft Suede ink.  Stamped the ATV rider on Whisp
