Good as Gold

Welcome back! It is Week 2 for the Spring Collection 2014 at Create with Connie and Mary and today my second project is available.  I had a blast designing the gift set for this collection.  It is exclusive to subscribers so I can't give you a sneak peek.  BUT, it's not too late to subscribe if you haven't already.  You can join now and have access to all the amazing projects from the talented Design Team.  Just hop over to Create with Connie and Mary for all the deatils. Since this week's projects in the collection are all about Sale-a-bration, I am sharing a card made with the Good As Gold Card Kit.  This is a super fun kit that makes 8 cards.  I did a little bit of a different design than what they show on the package, but that's what makes stamping so wonderful---you can do it the way you want!  Here's my take on the card kit. I did a fun banner across the top with portions of the cut outs. The kit has extra greetings since they include two other languages

It's Thursday and time for a new challenge from Create with Connie and Mary.  We have three great colors to work with, take a look. These are colors that I may not have put together otherwise.  I wasn't sure what I wanted to do at first, but after I got stamping was very pleased with the results. Isn't this fun!  Bold, bright and will hopefully make someone feel better!  I love the bold stamps with these colors.  Tangerine Tango is a color that I don't use often.  It looks wonderful with the Baked Brown Sugar and Coastal Cabana.  I think this is now one of my favorite color changes to date! I stamped the flowers on the lower right corner, no specific pattern, I just wanted it to flow across. The greeting is from A Dozen Thoughts, stamped with Coastal Cabana.  The scallop boarder beneath it is in Baked Brown Sugar.  The whole thing is die cut with a circle framelit then framed with Coastal Cabana Stretch Trim.  The final touch is a few Coastal Cabana flowers punched from

Getting Organized

Today I have a tip for you instead of a card.  Remember the Valentine treat that I made out of a plastic baby food container??  Well, I have another use for those containers that I'd like to share with you. I love to save containers of all sizes to either upcycle or use in some way.  The plastic baby food containers are so handy for many things.  My favorite use is storage in my craft room.  I keep extra punch outs and die cuts neatly organized in containers and on a shelf for easy access.  I can't tell you how much time I've saved by just reaching for a container and already having a butterfly die cut ready to go. I will usually die cut extra butterflies or hearts whenever I make a card so I have extras for when I'm in a hurry.  And my 8 year old daughter loves to dig through my extras and make cards of her own. I hope you enjoyed today's quick organizing tip!  See you tomorrow for this week's Thursday Challenge from Create with Connie and Mary. Shop online,

Welcome!  Today is another challenge day, this time it's for Try Stampin' On Tuesday .  They have a great sketch to work with this week, take a look. I wanted to use Life in the Forest and ended up going a bit abstract with the sketch.  I initially planned on boxes of different colors, but changed my mind.  I arranged the cut outs in the same pattern as the boxes, just no boxes! Isn't this interpretation fun!  I used both Sale-a-bration and Occasions catalog products.  The Designer Series Paper is Sweet Sorbet and it's available starting today! I stamped the raccoon on Smokey Slate and fussy cut him out.  His tail and ears are colored in with a Basic Black marker.  His mask is colored in with a retired gray marker.  The trees are stamped with Summer Starfruit on Summer Starfruit card stock and fussy cut.  The rabbit is stamped on Pool Party and fussy cut as well.  All the elements are arranged like the pattern of boxes in the sketch.  In place of a banner, I used the wo

Happy Monday!  It's time for a new Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge from Technostamper.  As usual Mary Jo has a great sketch for us, take a look. I went with a fairly simple card and tried out a design idea that my stamping friend Lisa Rhine did. Not too long ago Lisa did a card with a sun and I have been waiting for an opportunity to do one of my own.  I think the stamp "you make me happy when skies are gray" is so sweet.  It's in the Sale-a-bration catalog which is only one day away!!  I wanted to pair the sentiment with clouds and a sun and keep it crisp looking.  First was the circle with clouds made by sponging Soft Sky ink over a cloud shape.  Guess what I used?  The Word Bubbles Framelits has a perfectly shaped cloud!  In a previous post is a picture showing how I sponge the ink, you can find it HERE . Next I assembled my sun.  I used Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper, it has a piece just perfect for a sun.  The paper has variations of yellow with a spla

Valentine Cookies

Welcome back!  Today I have a great idea to share for Valentine's Day.  I love to bake cookies for people and I have a great way to package them to make them extra special.  The one I am sharing today is what I will be giving my family this year on Valentine's Day. Isn't this great!  I turned a CD envelope into a cookie holder!  This is a super easy idea and perfect for making in large quantities.  I simply took a CD envelope and embellished it with a little stamping and ribbon.  This particular design is made to hold the envelope shut and slide off to be re-used again! I stamped "LOVE" from Countless Sayings on Whisper White card stock AND a piece of Fresh Prints DSP.  I fussy cut the pieces of the word from the DSP and glued them into the word stamped on white.  I made a Real Red matting and the main sentiment is complete.  Lastly, I stamped "you" in the bottom right corner with Real Red. To hold the envelope shut, I wrapped a piece of 3/4" Black
