Botanical Builder

Image
I normally stick to a collection of my favorite colors for card making.  For today's card, I used a color that I rarely touch...Night of Navy. Isn't Night of Navy pretty when paired with Blushing Bride!  I started out knowing I wanted something a bit different so I also included an embossing folder that I rarely use, BOHO CHIC .  I like the texture plus it gives the card a lot more interest!  But there's still more, this isn't a typical card....... It's an easel card!  I love how easy these cards are to make yet they have a terrific WOW factor.  A small flower stamped and a punched flower make a simple holder to make the front of the card stand. The flowers are all built from BOTANICAL BUILDERS and the ITTY BITTY ACCENTS PUNCH PACK .  I also threw in a couple of leaves from the ROSE GARDEN THINLITS .  Using a couple shades of green, Pear Pizzaz and Old Olive, gives more depth.  The sentiment is pulled from ROSE WONDER the set that coordinates with the ROSE GARD...

Party with Cake Funfold

Image
I have a really FUN card for you today!  I am so loving PARTY WITH CAKE and wishing I'd ordered it sooner! Another bold card!  This stamp set is just so perfect for the bolder brighter look.  But wait until you see the inside! It's a Pop Out Swing Shaker card!!  I originally make this type of card last fall and it was very popular.  If you'd like to see the original, click HERE to see the card and video with instructions. The original Pop Out Swing Shaker that I did had the typical shaker front with window sheet and dimensionals.  For this one I went with the flat shaker using VELLUM CARDSTOCK .  The bits and pieces inside the shaker were the cut outs from the die cuts that coordinate with the stamps called PARTY POP UP THINLITS .  I also added a few sequins inside and out.  The die cut sentiment was also from the left overs from die cutting.  It's so fabulous to have a use for the intended die cut and the scraps...love it! I hope you enjoyed this card today, I sure h...

Masculine Botanical Blooms

Image
Let's take a break from Birthday Blooms today and look at a masculine version of BOTANICAL BLOOMS that I made. Using just the leaves from the set gives a distinct masculine feel when combined with the right paper and sentiment. I went with a sentiment from PERFECT PAIRINGS in the Sale-a-bration Catalog in Early Espresso. I paired it with neutral colors and paper from the GOING PLACES designer paper stack.  I also added in a little paper piercing since that was part of the challenge for this card for the March CREATIVE CREW on Splitcoaststampers. For the March Mini Session from Create with Connie and Mary I also gave an idea for making a masculine card.  I made a card set with BOTANICAL BLOOMS that I think you'll really enjoy!  To find out more about subscribing to the MARCH MINI SESSION, just visit Create with Connie and Mary ! Perfectly Artistic Bloom

Image
I have yet another BIRTHDAY BLOOMS card for you today, but this one's a little different.  I used the gorgeous PERFECTLY ARTISTIC designer paper from Sale-a-bration for the bloom. Isn't this fabulous!!  I love the bloom paper pieced with the designer paper, so pretty!  This idea came as a result of one of the challenges for this month's Creative Crew .  We were to use the PERFECTLY ARTISTIC DSP on a thank you card. To give more life to the blossom, I stamped it on the Whisper White card front then added a paper pieced bloom on top with dimensionals.  I only paper pieced the large blossom and leaves, the smaller leaves and buds were on the card front. Lastly, I added a sentiment from COTTAGE GREETINGS .  This is a perfect match for BIRTHDAY BLOOMS as the font is similar. Paper piecing this flower was so much fun, I hope you'll give it a try for yourself! And now I have a fun sneak peek for you, we are getting ready for the launch of the February Mini Session from Cr...

Birthday Bloom Tag

Image
The February CREATIVE CREW gallery on Splitcoaststampers is open and has lots of wonderful ideas!  We had some great challenges for this month, the first being one about TAGS.  Since BIRTHDAY BLOOMS is one of my favorite sets right now, it was the obvious choice. The challenge was to make a tag with something unusual.  I needed a tag for a gift, so I did my tag in an unusual way.  Can you guess what I did by looking at it?? The mini clothes pin is just holding the flower in place, it can come off and be re-used by the recipient!  It's on a 3x3 square, so it can be added to a small card or standard card. Here's the package I used the tag with.  The bag has bold colors, so I used Bermuda Bay to coordinate. I hope you enjoyed this fun new way to use a gift tag!  You can find this idea and lots more in the Creative Crew Gallery . No Road is too Long

Image
I have one final card to share that I made for the Creative Crew this month on Splitcoaststampers.  This particular challenge required using any of the decorative masks on a card.  I love polka dots, so I went with a subtle background for my BEAUTIFUL RIDE card. Pool Party is such a serene and happy color for me.  I made a lightly sponged polka dot background to which I added a cute little VW Bug.  The bug was stamped on a scrap of paper, colored with Pool Party and a blender pen then cut out and added to the card base. For a fun pop of color, I added a Real Red balloon and a little bit of red to the dog's collar. A super fun stamp set for sure!!  In fact, I made a set of cards with BEAUTIFUL RIDE for the January Mini Session from Create with Connie and Mary . A Nice Pot of Tea

Image
Another challenge we had for the Creative Crew this month was to make a card with a positive /negative design.  Can you guess what I made........ If you guessed a shaker you were right!  It's been awhile since I've made a shaker so this was the first thing that came to mind!  A Nice Cuppa and the coordinating Cups & Kettle Framelits made this a tea-riffic shaker card! I wanted it to look like you were pouring a cup of tea, so I used gold microbeads inside the tea pot.  I also added a few sequins under the spout to look like the tea was pouring out. This is such a fun stamp and framelit set!  You can get them both for 15% off when you purchase the bundle ....isn't that fantastic!!  They work together beautifully as the framelits have some things that you don't get in the stamp set.  So many ways to use these! Just for You

Image
I have a fun little treat for you today featuring another Sale-a-bration set.  This is another must have stamp set, it has so many uses! I whipped up a little treat for Valentine's Day or any other occasion you want.  It just requires a cupcake liner, a gusseted bag and some candy.  All these items were handy in my kitchen so I had this put together in no time. To decorate by treat bag, I used the new Sale-a-bration set BOTANICALS FOR YOU.  I love this big, bold greeting!  Just stamp and die cut a tag...easy peasy! Once all the candy was in the bag and the tag was done, I simply tied the bag shut with the lovely Watermelon Dotted Lace Trim.  One thing extra I did add inside the bag was a few hearts for a confetti effect.  I also added a few to the outside of the bag with a couple of dimensionals.  I love the extra bit of color! We are getting ready for our JANUARY MINI SESSION with a projects using stamp sets from the new Occasions Catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochures !  Get som...
