Wonderland Flat Shaker
I've been away for a week, sorry I haven't shared any ideas with you. We just moved to a new house after living at the previous house for over ten years. Do you know how much stuff a family of 5 can collect in that amount of time?? A LOT!! We are exhausted but glad to be settling into our new home. Things are still chaotic, but I am SO READY to get back to stamping and sharing!!
Here's a fun card I made before all the moving started, it's with my favorite set WONDERLAND.
I just love these flat shakers! It's hard to see in the picture, but there are trees stamped behind the vellum. I wanted a winter woods effect with the sequins acting like snowflakes. I even threw in a few of the snowflakes from last year's holiday catalog because they were a perfect fit.
Since the trees in the background are harder to see, I added a couple tree tops to the vellum. I love that they match perfectly with the washi tape......Mossy Meadow is such a lovely color for pine trees!
I added a couple of sequins to the front of the card as well. They matched nicely with the silver embossed sentiment. I don't think I can get enough of silver embossing and sequins this holiday season!
For those of you that follow the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop, I'm sorry I was absent this week. But I will see you this Saturday with another great Christmas card idea. There are also wonderful ideas to be had in the November Mini Session. If you've not subscribed yet, I hope you'll give it a try! We have wonderful tutorials for you to help make your holidays handmade. For all the details, go to Create with Connie and Mary.

Beautiful card Nicole!
ReplyDeleteMoving is never easy, especially when you've lived there a long time and have kids. We've lived in our house for 25 years. It scares me to think about moving, but we will before my husband retires in a few years.
Nicole: How did you stamp on the vellum with Mossy Meadow and not have it smear?
ReplyDeleteThank you Cindee! It was a tough move, but now that it's done we can get organized and get back to regular life! I have so missed stamping and the internet...life is so different without it. What did we ever do before all this technology...lol!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, I just carefully stamped it and let it sit for awhile to dry, nothing special! The specialty vellum seemed to take the ink well, no smearing problems. Just be sure to leave it alone for a little.
ReplyDeletedid you attach the vellum to the card base under the washi tape?
ReplyDeleteYes, I did. I used tear tape all around the edges of the vellum. The washi tape that I add afterwards will cover the adhesive that shows through. If you only use washi, it won't hold. The washi tape can peel up too easily and your sequins will come out. Hope that helps and you give this style of shaker card a try!
ReplyDeletethanks, I do want to try it but didn't want to rely on the washi tape to hold it together
ReplyDeleteP
Yep, I tried it once and my shaker fell apart. Also make sure you burnish the washi tape when you apply it, keeps it from wanting to peel up.
