Flashback Friday: Roses In Winter

It's Friday!! Time to flashback again with a set that was a favorite of mine when I first started stamping, Roses in Winter from 2003.

I was asked to make a special Mother's Day card, and I thought of this set.  It has a beautiful softness to it, with the blending of colors as a two-step stamp set.  Here's the card I made, blending old with new.

I blended a lot of new with old to make a more modern style card.  The card base is Crumb Cake embossed with the new Modern Mosaic EF.  It's hard to see here, but I lightly stamped the small flower inside some of the mosaics using Crumb Cake ink.  Here's a closer look.

I stamped the roses with Strawberry Slush from the new In Color Collection.  I stamped off three times for the bottom layer, two times for the middle then directly stamped for the top.  I cut them out by hand as well as the leaves and small violet flowers.  The leaves are Pear Pizazz with Old Olive and the small flowers are Wisteria Wonder.  I layered all the floral elements on the largest doily die cut from the Delicate Doilies Sizzlet L.  The ribbon is Pear Pizzaz seam binding that I got off the clearance rack awhile ago.  The greeting is from a retired hostess set from last year's catalog.  I stamped it with Soft Suede on Whisper White and made a banner out of the strip of paper using my 1" Square punch.
I just loved making this card, brought back lots of early stamping memories.  I used this set s lot when I first signed up with Stampin' Up! I hope you enjoyed the flashback to 2003 today! See you tomorrow for See it Again Saturday!

If it doesn't move...stamp it!!
