Catalog CASE

Image
Today I'd like to share a card that I made that was inspired by a sample in the new 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog.  I needed a birthday card and thought the card on page 91 for Look Who's Turning was really cute.  I changed up the colors and the animal.  Here's my CASE of the card. I kept the design of the card the same, but changed the colors.  I used a chipboard 2 which I traced on tempting turquoise and cut out.  I was pleased with the results and will probably go back and make more in the same design with different colors.  I really liked the layering of the top note on a piece of card stock with the scallop border underneath.  These colors worked well together, and was the perfect card for a pool party!  Here's a close up. I will be rescheduling the class from last Tuesday that I had to cancel.  We had gotten a bad thunderstorm Monday night and lost power.  We didn't get our power restored until Thursday night.  It was a very...

Faux Mother of Pearl Cards

Image
I am doing a new series of classes called Technique Tuesday and Faux Mother of Pearl is the first class next week.  I saw Dawn Olchefske do a beautiful card with the technique and I knew it was one I had to try. Here are the two cards I came up with for my class. This first card uses the beautiful set Always Elegant on page 80 of the Idea Book and Catalog.  I paired Crumb Cake and Pink Pirouette for a soft look. In the close up you can see the shimmer from the faux mother of pearl effect.  In person it really looks beautiful and elegant. This picture shows both cards that we will be making.  The second card is done with the Easter Blossoms set that was offered in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  I just love the flowers and thought they were perfect for the Mother of Pearl technique.       If you are in my area, Cincinnati/Dayton Ohio, you can go to my Demonstrator Website and check out my calander for a listing of classes that I'm...

Easter Basket using the Petal Cone Die Cut

Image
I'm still waiting for my laptop to be repaired so I am working off of Hubby's.  I have quite a few projects that I've done recently, but haven't had the chance to share.  Today's is a couple of cute Easter baskets that I made after seeing the one  Becky Roberts  did a few weeks ago.  She came up with a clever little basket using the petal cone die cut.  Here is my take on her basket.  I haven't really used the new peach parfait until this project and I am really liking this color.  The other basket incorporates it as well. I paper pieced the chick so the color would be bolder.  I added little polka dots to the egg using a small circle punch, but they are hard to see in this picture. Thanks for stopping by to see the baskets.  If you need the supplies to make this project you can shop on my Stampin' Up! Demonstrator website 24/7.  Be sure to check out the clearance rack for some fantastic deals. If it doesn't move..sta...

Petal Cone Valentine

Image
I am loving the new petal cone die cut!  I have been a busy little bee making lots of cute projects that I will be sharing over the next couple weeks.  Today I'd like to show you the valentine cone that is perfect for holding candies and giving to a special someone. This is a super simple project, I made the cone with pretty in pink card stock and added the scallop sides in melon mambo.  A few hearts and a greeting and there you have it!  What an easy gift to make, especially if you need to make quite a few.  Here is a side view where  you can see the heart that I put on all the sides. And up close here is the greeting that went on the front.  If you'd like to personalize it you could add a tag to put a name on or you could add ribbon to the petals on top to add a little extra. I hope you liked my valentine petal cone.  Be sure to check back, I have lots of petal cone Easter and Mother's Day projects in the works.  If you'd like to get your o...
